Jenny in GA
My almost-eleven year has been dying for her own typewriter, and we just found one at Goodwill for $8! Now .... we want her to learn the basics of how to type. Is there any sort of free, on-line course. All we need is something basic to get her going. Or, anything else you recommend? Thanks! Heathermomster
Take a look at the BBC's Dance Mat Typing.
MomatHWTK
Since she's going to be using a typewriter (?), I would recommend you look for old typing instruction manuals online. There are probably some OOP ones available as free pdfs.

There are some fun games here as well.

Mom22ns
We use this one: www.typingweb.com It's free to register and it has a long list of lessons. :iagree: My kids started with dance mat typing when they were 6. We went to typing web when they were about 10. Dance mat is strictly beginner level. Typing web goes much further and is good for all levels.
