tntgoodwin
Do you own either of these? What do you think? Pros and cons? How is the picture quality? I would use it for wirelessly streaming Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Instant Video, and that is probably it. I would use 1080p HDMI connection only. :lurk5:
Annie G
We have the previous model of the Sony and it works well. Not glitchy or anything and the picture is good. I hear rumors that it doesn't support surround sound on Netflix but haven't tested that yet since we bought it for Amazon Instant Video. Lady Florida.
I don't know anything about the Sony, but we have 2 Roku boxes (both 2-XD) and love them. We cut the cord with Directv, and watch all of our tv either from digital over the air, or streaming on Roku. We've had no problems with ours. Now that we've allowed ds to have a tv in his room, we're considering the Roku LT for him.
zimom
You did not ask but I love my Apple TV. I chose it over the Roku as it allows me to stream movies I have saved on my computer hard drive to my TV and the Roku would not allow me to do that. I also use it for Netflix. I have camcorder movies on my hard drive as well as I have copied several of my DVDs to my hard drive (via Freemake) so that I can also view on my iPAD. I am not familiar with the Sony. Jan in SC
We have a Roku 2 that we love. It transmits in 1080 and we have had no problems with it. I looked at AppleTv, but you can't stream Hulu, so it was a no-go for us.
DawnM
Another vote for Roku. I wanted to get AppleTV as we have Apples, but DH was adamant that we get a player that played in 1080p and allowed Hulu+ as we don't have a DVR.
TX6
We love our Rokus.
zimom
You are all correct, no Hulu on the Apple TV. Never a consideration for me as it is something I do not use so did not realize. Sorry. But I still love it. :). Good luck in your decision.

Venia
We just picked up the Sony. No experience with the Roku to compare, but the Sony works great. We just stream netflix, hulu, amazon instant videos, YouTube and Pandora. Apparently it can do 3D movies too, but I doubt we will ever use that feature.
