KidsHappen
I like the story and I really want to know what happens but I don't much care for the writer's style and it seems like it is moving so slowly. I am about halfway through and trying to decide if it is worth my time or if I should just move on. Does it ever pick up? Is the ending worth the effort? Right now, I am just looking for a page turner, something I can lose myself in. A beach read not something I have to force myself to pick up. Mergath
I really liked it, though I agree, it did move quite slowly. It's been a couple years since I read it, but I thought the ending was worth it.
Sebastian (a lady)
Blah. I thought the ending was unsatisfactory and not well supported. I preferred Dracula.
Cassy
It's been a while since I read it, I took it on holiday with me one year. It was perfect for a lazy holiday read, I really enjoyed it. Cassy
Joyofsixreboot
Didn't like it. I didn't care. I flipped to the back, read the last chapter and called it done.
Guest
I read The Swan Thieves first and really enjoyed that. After, I tried The Historian and didn't care for it, at all.
Stacia
I loved it. However, if you're not loving it, I'd suggest stopping & finding something you do love. Why waste your time reading it if you're not enjoying it?
Georgiana Daniels
I really enjoyed the book, the whole mood and tone it created. But if YOU don't enjoy it, ditch it in favor of something else! A whole world of books to choose from.
KidsHappen
Yeah, I think I am just going to move on to the next one on my list. My list so incredibly long as it is. I don't usually read fiction but I have really needed to get lost in a books lately and I really enjoyed The Hunger Games and The Giver. I think I may cull my Stephen King shelf. I have all of his books and I haven't read at least the last ten. I am also open to suggestions.
Thea
I liked it, but if it's not hooking you I'd go ahead and read the last chapter and move on. I recently read "The Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morten. It was a nice, easy, get-lost-in sort of read.
ErinE
I had a hard time getting through it. The constant slamming doors and random screams felt like an author attempting to create a scary mood, unsuccessfully. I don't know if you've read the Game of Thrones series, but the first three books are good. The last two are meh. If you haven't read all of Stephen King's The Gunslinger series, I recommend that as well. The last scene in the last novel was fantastic. Heather in Neverland
I really liked it at first and then I thought it got rather cheesy towards the end so maybe 3 stars?
