Paige
I need a nice dress by next weekend for an important, but not formal, event. It should be like a nice day dress or similar. I have looked at my usual favorite stores and can't find anything with sleeves that isn't more like a shirt/barely past the butt tunic that I should wear leggings with. This isn't a short skirt/leggings kind of event so that is out. This wasn't a problem in the summer, but I'd feel silly and cold walking around in sleeveless clothes in the middle of winter, snow, and ice. I also don't want to wear a coat inside, but I know that I would be very cold without sleeves. I'm always wearing at least 2 shirts in my warm house because I freeze in the winter! Where could I find a dress with sleeves? Why are women expected to freeze all winter with sleeveless dresses? I can't usually shop in regular stores because I am an unusual size so I need to find somewhere online that ships quickly and has very petite sizes. If I get it soon enough, I might be able to have it altered. Of course, DH just told me about this today. :glare: I don't want to spend a ton, but I want something significantly nicer than Forever 21! Vida Winter
I like the clothing at J. Peterman. They are expensive but when things go on sale they (sometimes) drop into the affordable range. Here's a link: http://www.jpeterman.com/Womens-Dresses also check the "last chance" dept at that site for sales. KungFuPanda
I think we're expected to shop for clothes two seasons ahead. :glare: I don't do it either.
momofkhm
Coldwater Creek has some dresses with sleeves. Be sure to check their outlet as well. Forgot to add that their stuff runs towards talls. So if you are on the short side of regular, definitely order a petite. Holly IN
Could you do a skirt and blouse?? I am sure you have a black skirt and a white blouse and maybe black jacket?? This is my standard wear for events that you are talking about. If not then if you are stuck with getting a sleaveless dress....Try to find a jacket that complements the dress and that should take care of the sleaveless part. Sorry not much help ...just ideas Holly
Margaret in GA
I think we are all expected to wear sweaters now. I think it's a scam to get you to buy a.) a dress with less fabric b.) another article of clothing. I'm kidding. Sort of. How about these: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/mulling-spices-dress $47.99 http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/dresses/solid/PRDOVR~59568/59568.jsp $198.
abbeyej
I'm not sure how petite you need. Ann Taylor has a number of petite dresses with sleeves.
jillian
modcloth.com They have very nice things but I haven't ever ordered from them. They are pricey though. I don't know about shipping either
