Each of my kids has a different schedule, but I'll do dd 6th grade as I am working on her paperwork right now. We generally do two strands of history at the same time. And plans are always subject to change. :D

& early American history

6th - Ambleside Year 6 (ancient Greece and Rome)

& World Geography

7th - Ambleside year 7 (800 - 1485)

& American History

8th - Ambleside year 8 (1485 - 1700)

& Global Studies

9th - Ambleside year 9 (1700-1850)

& AP Human Geography

10th - Ambleside year 10 (1850-1950)

& U.S. History (comm. college)

11th - Ambleside year 11 (1950-present)

& U.S. Government / Economics

12th - Humanities (comm. college)

& Music History

Grammar Stage: History Odyssey Level 1 (uses SOTW and CHOW) and SOTW Activity Guides/Tests

Logic Stage: History Odyssey Level 2

Rhetoric Stage: History Odyssey Level 3 with SWB's books

This is my ideal. Hasn't exactly worked that way yet.

For 5th through 8th, I have a huge plan drawn up to cover world and US history from 1600 - present. Then, I've added in some different ideas for geography along the way. Of course, this plan is written in pencil on toilet paper. Things could change. LOL

Grades 5- US/ World History (include US Geography- Star Spangled States Book at Knowledge Quest; Fifty States songs on You Tube)

Grades 6- US/ World History (Include world geography- geography map skills workbooks, World Geography and You; Knowledge Quest Expedition Earth)

Grades 7- US/ World World History (Geography- Mapping the World with Art)

Grades 8- US/ World History

Grade 9- AP US History

Grades 10- AP World History

Grades 11- AP Civics, Government, Economics

Grades 12- World Geography

These are more book lists than "plans," but the plan is in my brain and follows the books, LOL....

Fifth grade, Ancients:

and

I haven't mapped out the rest of the high school years, but if the great books study works, we'll continue it for at least one more year, through the medieval period. Then I may do something else to cover civics, government, American History, etc.....

All Sonlight Cores:

Oldest Child:

5th - Core D (advanced readers)

6th - Core E

7th - Core G

8th - Core H

9th - Core 100

10th - World Geography (Maybe some of the Core F readalouds as readers) + Core 200 literature

11th - Core 300

12th - Core 400

Probably will split the Core 530 British Lit among the 11th/12th grade years to make the English component more "Honors".

Other children:

5th - Core E

6th - Core F

7th - Core G

8th - Core H

9th - Core 100

10th - World Geography + Core 200 literature

11th - Core 300 (1/2 of 530)

12th - Core 400 (second half of 530)

Not sure what I will use for World Geography.

My plan right now for my history-loving daughter is to continue through history sequentially, then swing back for some non-Western history that we missed, then move on to studying for AP exams and letting those be our syllabus.

So something like this *might* be what we'll do (or have already done):

2nd - Ancients (Galore Park Jr History 1-3)

3rd - More Ancients (SOTW, Story of Science Aristotle)

4th - Medieval (OUP, Story of Science Aristotle/Newton)

5th - Renaissance / Early Modern (OUP, Story of Science Newton)

6th - US History (Hakim, Story of Science Einstein)

7th - Non-western (OUP)

8th - 12th - AP Human geography, World History, European History, US History, Government, Economics

Now my younger daughter seems to have no patience or interest in history... We've been doing geography instead. I'm hoping 3rd grade might be her year to start. I've had two unsuccessful attempts at starting a history sequence.

5th and 6th- VP Self-Paced History depending on what Cycle of CC we're on

7-12th- CC Challenge and Omnibus (also based on what cycle we're on) plus a handful of books from MP. I'll probably do the MP books and Omnibus Secondary books in the Summer.

Here's what's happened for my current 8th grader and his future plans:

5th - Sonlight Core 5

6th - All American History

7th - ancients - Mystery of History

8th - medieval - Mystery of History

9th - 12th - My Father's World

Dd started SOTW in 3rd with my youngest, so her 5th-12th looks as follows:

5th - SOTW 3

6th - SOTW 4

7th - ancient - Mystery of History

8th - medieval - Mystery of History

9th-12th - My Father's World

Another option for her is to make SOTW stretch to 5 years, finishing it when she's in 7th, then do a year of American history.

The plan for the youngest is more unsure. He'll finish SOTW when he's in 4th or 5th grade. Then maybe we'll have him do Mystery of History 1, 2 and 3 in middle school, followed by My Father's World in high school.

Of course all these plans are contingent on me actually liking MFW! Since I haven't used it yet, this all may be thrown to the wind. ;) Years ago I had planned to do Sonlight through high school, and that's obviously changed.
