yes, you can nurse. It is given to moms after c sections all the time, that are nursing newborns. And for future reference, And don't ask the ER, ask the infant risk center: http://www.infantrisk.com/

I had my wisdom teeth out when my youngest was 6 weeks old. The oral surgeon kind of freaked out at the nursing question. He told me not to nurse while I was on ANYTHING he prescribed.:lol:

 

I called the lactation consultant at the hospital with all of the specific meds (IV knockout drugs and the after-care narcotics). They did suggest I pump and dump the first feeding after the knockout drugs, just because it might make baby extra sleepy. But, I was on the narcotics for almost a week (dry socket.... fun) and I was able to nurse the whole time.
