Dolrm room must haves

Recommended Posts

Most moms have had dc in for their first semester. What are the dorm room must haves. Or things you forgot that are needed.

Dd is entering the dorm for spring break. Sooo frazzled, too soon and only one day to get her in.

:confused::confused::confused:

Spring break in 1 day in December???

Do you mean that your dd is entering the dorms for spring semester and you only have one day for move-in?

If your dd can sleep that way, lofting the bed is the best way to make space in the room. You don't have to loft it to the ceiling. As long as you get it up high enough to put some small bookshelves underneath, you'll be fine. It takes at least 2 (preferably 3) people to loft a bed.

We used large sterilite storage boxes to move most of the clothes. They all stacked nicely inside of each other and stored easily in the closet area. One of those hanging shelf things for the closet is nice.

We got 4 of these at H.E.B. when they were on sale for $5 each during the summer. Ours are opaque and came in hot pink, neon green, and blue.

Our hanging shelves are a lot like this, but made of plastic rather than cloth.

We got her two of this shelf. That meant that she could use each compartment for a separate class. It helped to keep all her schoolwork organized (an absolute MUST for this dd as she is the most disorganized person on the planet).

We also had her take a tv-tray (useful for when she needed to spread her work out more).

She had one wire book shelf for loading everything else on.

Most of this stuff went under her bed. We lofted it just high enough for these things to fit.

We got her a hamper with wheels because the laundry room was downstairs and there was an elevator. Otherwise I would have gotten her a laundry bag rather than a hamper.

We got her a foldable drying rack because a lot of her clothes can't go in the dryer.

Make sure to have refills of the toner cartridges for the printer.
