BamaTanya
He's past the toy stage, and he's read all he can find on mythology. He loves drilling others on their myth knowledge (or lack). I cannot think of a thing, and when I ask him what he'd like, he shrugs. He has Asperger's and has his obsessions, but they're over his knowledge -- not things. As long as he's fed and clothed, he asks for nothing. Ever. Seriously. If I were to get him what he really craves, it would be a gift card for a continuous supply of Big Macs. Which doesn't seem like an appropriate big gift for under-the-tree.
saraha
Are we sharing the same son? Right down to the Big Macs. My son is an aspie too and we have had trouble the last couple of Christmas and birthdays. One thing we have done is give him an experience for his birthday. One year we took him to the aquarium and one to the museum center for an exhibit he wanted to see. I would love ideas for Christmas too though. Last year we scored big with giving him a small video camera and he makes movies about his obsessions. I've got nothing for this year though. Desert Rat
Hmm....How about a Star Registry? My dh had a star named after me. I got a framed certificate. Then, he can be up there with all the other constellations named after his favorite heroes.
Starr
Dd says the novel, The Alchemist, has a lot of mythology in it. I haven't read it.
