This has always been a big interest with my DD and this is one of the topics she has requested now that we have decided to make this year a gap year. She also might like to grow trilobites! We've done that before. This is a fossil hunting and collectors group based around Cincinnati. They have a great newsletter, which should be archived at their website. The frequently do book reviews. My children were extremely impressed to see ancient fossils that looked like things that were growing in our house and yard, like ferns, fish, dragonflies, and the triops.
