Quick! 4.5 pound rump roast in the crock pot...how do I know if it is done?

I am SO not a cook. I have a 4.5 pound rump roast in the crock pot. It's been on high for 4.5 hours. Then I took it out, shredded it with a fork, and am letting it simmer in the juices/BBQ sauce. It's been doing that for about 20 minutes. It's for pork sandwiches. It was tender when I shredded it. How do I know if it is done? I don't want to give us food poisoning (especially being pregnant) or something.
