Rose in BC
Okay I've got a small crowd coming for dinner tonight. I work until 4:30, they're coming at 6. I'm doing all the cooking. Its a simple fair . . . chicken wings and chow mein ( do you think I need another item)? Anyway, I need a simple dessert that requires very little prep. Any ideas? (Any ideas for a simple third, round it out dish?) What about wonton soup if I buy the wontons? Thanks.

Garga
Philo dough cups (in the freezer section by the cool whip.) They're each about 1-2 bite size. Boxes of vanilla pudding. Can of cherry or strawberry pie filling. Make the pudding. Pour it into the cups. Top with a cherry or strawberry on each one. YUMMY! Easy. Looks fancier than it is. I don't know if I can buy that here, but I'm going to check.
Rose in BC
Thanks for the ideas. I cook a lot. Its a hobby. Its funny, though, how sometimes the obvious is forgotten. (Like I have bought Angel food cake before and made a mango puree and whipped cream . . . or berries, but I completely forgot about that idea until I read the pound cake idea.) MaMa2005
Get those frozen mini cream puffs. Defrost and dip in melted chocolate. Easy and elegant.
tearose
Make-your-own-sundae bar? I second this. People seem to be impressed when I make a super-simple chocolate sauce and whip the cream myself.
