Heather in Neverland
Ds 7yo lost his two front teeth about 4 months ago and they have not even BEGUN to poke back through. Not a sign of them. Is this normal?
Chris in VA
You mean, "grow in?" LOL It can depend on several things, including how far they have to go, and how tough the gums are. My dentist had to slit my gums b/c it took nearly a year for the adult fronts to grow in--and they came in about 2 days later! But that's rare. If they aren't in by his next dental, just ask. 4 months is still normal, I believe.
Jan in SC
My middle ds had one tooth that took over a year. It was so annoying! The orthodontist was watching it and I think it got nervous!
Serenade
One of my son's front teeth took almost a year to come in. It was disconcerting to me, but the dentist wasn't worried.
sparrow
My daughter's two front teeth took more than a year to grow in! There wasn't even a hint of teeth coming in for a year. Just gums. You know how you look at your child with that adorable gap-toothed grin and get a little sad thinking about how it's such a fleeting moment? Ha! I got so tired of seeing her gums (and cutting corn off the cob :D). It has been good for us because both kids need orthodontic work. Her teeth are so slow to grow in, it's allowed us to stagger their treatment, and therefore, payments!
Paige
One of my DD's took almost 2 years to come in! I kept asking the dentist about it and she said it was normal, the tooth was visible on x-ray, and just moving slowly.
ChristusG
I've been wondering the same thing. DD7's teeth have always grown back in quickly. It's been 2 months since she lost one and I don't see a new one. It's one of the teeth beside her front ones. Her front one actually looks like it's shifting due to nothing being beside it. :001_huh:
Heather in Neverland
Whew! Ok so it is too early to panic. I will wait until his appointment in December Before I panic. It just struck me yesterday that all his friends seem to haves their front teeth back again except him. But as long as it isn't abnormal then I won't worry. Thanks! meggie
I don't know exactly how long it took, but I know my two front teeth took forever. My uncle was always saying, "When are you gonna get some teeth?" They're here now, :D see?
