saraha
I accidentally dried my son's rashgaurd/uv protectant shirt in the drier. The tag had said air dry only, but it accidentally got thrown in the drier on medium heat. Will this affect the protectant? My son is a red head and needs all of the protectant he can get. It was a new shirt, first time being washed. Thanks, Sarah
Mrs Mungo
The sun protection isn't from a chemical additive. If you put it in the dryer over and over it will break down the fabric much sooner than if you air dry. But, putting it in the dryer won't affect the sun protection aspect. Julie in Austin
I always put ours in the dryer and haven't noticed any problems.
T'smom
I always put ours in the dryer too. My kids grow out of them before the fabric breaks down!
saraha
I am so relieved, thank you! I thought for sure I was going to have to buy him a new one, and he had only worn this one once.
jamijoy
This is the first time I've heard not to dry them in the dryer. Whoops. I'm not a clothing tag reader. I will say though that I pass clothes down to my younger boys and I've never had a rash guard shirt wear out. And we swim all the time in the summer.
