Hi! First I have to say, I'm a peeping tom, I've read so many threads and finally decided to dive in and ask a question.

What do you guys think of Considering God's Creation for a reading K student? I'm torn between it and RSO Life. The only reason I'm torn is that I already own the CGC, it came in a curriculum package. Should I go through CGC and then move on to RSO? Or just start with RSO Life?

Thanks for any advice!

Thanks for the welcome!

I think the biggest issue is I[/u want to do RSO Life and was hoping to hear someone say "Forget CGC and just get RSO!" Then I would "have" to do it, because an experienced homeschooler told me to! :) Trying to remember to pace ourselves and that it will still be there in 6 months from now! ;)

Follow your instincts and ditch it then. RSO is great. ;)

I have CGC, and I think it'd be better for later. The worksheets aren't all that useful at that age. I did a little bit with it with my first grader (an independent reader), and I got some information from it, but most of it would be better for an older child.

So go with RSO Life, and save CGC for later or use it to supplement RSO. It's actually quite easy to use it that way. I was using it to supplement the weather unit of RSO.

Hi Erin, and welcome!! :seeya:

Well, according to my research.....(just kidding! Can you tell I've watched too many episodes of The Magic School Bus!? ). But actually....according to Rainbow Resource Center, RSO is for grades 1 - 4 (and you could probably do it with a K'er who is reading well). CGC's is for grades 3 - 7. With that info in mind, I'd go with RSO....but I'd still keep CGC for the future. I've used parts of CGC and my kids have enjoyed it.

Welcome. :001_smile:

I tend to think that CGC is better for older dc, around 8 or 9 or so. It isn't only the reading ability; it's the thinking and planning and whatnot...even the cutting and coloring. I'd wait on that.

Not sure what "RSO" is. Sorry.
