Rebecca
I want to choose a typing program for my fifth and sixth grade sons (next year). What should I choose? I am thinking about Typing Instructor Deluxe. Is that a good program? Thanks, Rebecca
Matryoshka
I am thinking about Typing Instructor Deluxe. Is that a good program? We used Typing Instructor for Kids, which is the same program with more kid-oriented games (my kids were younger, so that made sense). For the age your kids are, the Deluxe probably makes more sense. Anyhoo, my kids loved it and all three are now fast, efficient typists.
danybug
I was wondering the same thing for my ds next year. I just ordered the Mavis Beacon program. I saw this in the WTM and thought we would try it.
ELaurie
I found TI for Kids and TI at CBD for $19.95 for both.

Harriet Vane
I used TI Deluxe with my kids. Ds used the kids' version, and dd used the adult version. Both kids type well now.
frankcassiesmom
BBC typing is FREE and my kids are great from using it.
Matryoshka
BBC typing is FREE and my kids are great from using it. WE loved BBC's Dance Mat typing as an intro, but it didn't have what they needed to progress in speed - that's when we bought TI.
Ali in OR
As mac users, Typing Instructor wasn't an option for us (it's PC only). Mavis Beacon has been working fine for my 10 yo. It looks fun enough that my 8 yo wants to start too.

I guess we've done so much typing since then that they haven't needed anything else. They type out final drafts of things, etc. so they're pretty fast just from use. Mom22ns
We used dancemat for intro, but used Typing web beyond that.
