mamato3 all-boy boys
As the kids get older, they are doing more display boards for school....and I'm sick of buying the $5 cardboard tri-fold boards. Has anyone turned an inexpensive foam core or cardboard display board into something that can be reused? What about felt?
Tap
We just reuse the tri-fold boards. We use small amount of double stick tape, about 1" in from each corner of the artifact on the board. When we take things off the board, we are careful to not damage the board. Things are also removed ASAP once it is back home to lessen the amount of time things are attached. If something needs a lot of adhesive (like the year he did a report on minerals and had to attach samples of each) we adhere the item to cardstock and then hang the cardstock on the board with tape. We use the same format each time. 3 documents in each section. We make a paper frame for each document which helps to hide an previous tape pieces. He has one board that has been used 3 times and is still immaculate looking once prepared.
justasque
I once covered one with clear contact paper, so stuff could be easily put on and taken off again. I wonder if you could make a sturdy one with that thin whiteboard stuff, or other thin pressboard. The home improvement stores will cut it for you, and it could be hinged with duct tape. Heavy, but durable. A 4'x8' piece of hardboard is under $10, so even if they charge you 50 cents a cut, you could get two board sets for a great price. If you are clever and have tools, you could devise a handle cut-out to make carrying easier.
mamato3 all-boy boys
Oooh! I love the contact paper idea! That is fabulous, and probably better than felt!

Ds has been using the same tri-fold board for his 4-H presentations for 4 years now and those are twice a year.
