Woodland_Mom
My kids have enjoyed books from these series . . . The Boxcar Children Timewarp Trio Little House on the Prarie Encyclopedia Brown Nate the Great Here's a link that lists many book series for children: http://www.kidsreads.com/series/index.asp
Farrar
More series - Ivy and Bean, Judy Moody, Clementine. My kids especially like Ivy and Bean. Also, if she hasn't done them already, Flat Stanley or My Father's Dragon. I'm not a huge Boxcar fan, but that is the next step a lot of kids take at that point. I would also recommend Phyllis Reynolds Naylor - the Simply Sarah books and Roxie and the Hooligans, among others. She also has books for older readers, but she's done several chapter books and easier middle grades books. She's a very gentle writer and a very good one. crazyforlatin
We've just started Hank the Cowdog series and DD is constantly giggling while reading. I think it's about 3rd grade level.
NanceXToo
I'll second Encyclopedia Brown... ...and what about the Wright On Time series? There are only three out so far but there will eventually be one (supposedly) about every state. It features a homeschooling family that travels in their RV to different states and they learn about that state and I think they solve a mystery in each state. Horses and suspense. How about Farley's Black Stallion....shipwrecked on an island with a beautiful horse.
