Jilly
My son has struggled with selective mutism for years. One aspect of his mutism is that he is unable to say names. I haven't heard him call me mom since he was four. This week he began calling me mutti, which is a German word for mom. I just had to share because it has been so wonderful. If you want to read more about it, check out my blog. By the way, he just he walked by and said "I love you mutti". :) He is melting my heart. Your kids have very cool names. And I am very happy, very, very happy, that you are their Mutti. ChristusG
Awwww!!! What a wonderful breakthrough for you guys!!! DD6 has selective mutism, but it was not brought on by anything traumatic and she will still speak to and refer to family members. But she wont talk to anyone she doesn't know extremely well. So although not severe, I do understand how important and wonderful these breakthroughs can be!!
