Remudamom
I made a chocolate pudding pie and put meringue on top. Do you have to cook meringe?? HOpe not, I've been eating it out of the bowl, and I can't cook a pudding pie.
ma23peas
If you trust your egg grower, you're good! :) We eat cookie dough ALL the time...a very small percentage of eggs have issues...but when they do, you'll know fairly quickly! :( Enjoy your pie! :) Tara
OnTheBrink
Yeah, I think you are. Otherwise, it's just raw egg.
Remudamom
Well, they're from my hens so I guess we'll eat it. Maybe I should go on and eat some more, and tell the kids if I die to throw it out.
OLG
My mother always put the pie (pudding and whipped egg whites) under the broiler a bit...... Mary
Margo out of lurking
I think the meringue just gets browned a bit so it gets a little crusty. But underneath it's pretty raw. My point (and I do have one!) is that "cooking" it doesn't really "cook" it. I wouldn't feed it to a baby or so someone who's immune system is really wacky--and I'd still feed it to my dh, even though he has big immune system problems. In general, I'd say it's safe. Enough. You know the chickens!
GraciebytheBay
It would be just like a lemon meringue pie. Spread it on top and brown it lightly. That doesn't affect the pudding.
