susancollins
I thought I shared this article. http://www.blogsdn.com/education-reference/7900-homeschooled-children-continue-outperforming-their-public-school-counterparts-as-homeschooling-increases-in-popularity.html
Jean in Newcastle
I'm curious. Who published this article? Is it a mainstream source? A homeschool one? (I'm not up on this sort of thing).

Audrey
I'm curious. Who published this article? Is it a mainstream source? A homeschool one? (I'm not up on this sort of thing). I'm curious, too. I noticed that this study was not cited, footnoted or linked in any way. It is simply stated that a Dr. Lawrence Rudner did this study. What kind of doctor is he? Where did the study take place? What was his sampling? Methodology? Anything? Lovey-dovey articles about homeschooling are nice, but unless the claims are backed up in a legitimate manner, they may as well be fiction. Stacy in NJ
http://www.hslda.org/docs/study/rudner1999/default.asp Just google the author's name to get his background and assocations.

nmoira
Claims like this have to be taken with a grain of salt. Cross cultural studies have shown that parental interest in a child's education is a strong determinant of school success, and I think most homeschool parents would be classified as interested. ;) It's not necessarily true that it's homeschooling itself that has made the difference.
