Need good secular time line

I'm looking for a good time line book that is secular (meaning, doesn't start a few thousand years ago) and stickers to go in it. Any suggestions?

Learning Through History used to carry a blank timeline with dates, they had a blank Prehistory timeline going back about 40,000 BCE or so. They have stickers too, but I make my own. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it up on their website this year yet. They still carry totally blank timelines.

I do also like their laminated classical set, but it only covers History (not prehistory), so Ancients goes back to 5000 BCE.

This is available online and comes in a hard copy. It is pretty comprehensive (Covers 3000 years, including people, history and maps) and the online version has links for further information.

I've been thinking of making my own, but looking at these options I think I'm going to combine a purchased timeline with additions of our own. That way we've got something to start with and can stick any pix, artists, crazy stuff my kids come up with on the wall below that timeslot. Yay, it's easy, open to creative additions and decided! :001_smile:

I love the Add-A-Century Timeline. You can configure it however you like. I have my kids make their own timeline figures and we print them out on sticker paper.

BTW, my plan for a time line includes twine that goes WAY back, with taped on markers for the epochs and eras, etc. It will be coiled up at one end on a nail, and unrolled for the full effect at pertinent times. I suspect it will have to be run out the backdoor in my new house.

I got this from Rainbow Resource and am very happy with it. It is listed on their site as a Classical Education timeline.

Yes, that's the one I have (with the optional prehistory 5th section) and forgot that you can get it on Pandia Press. Love it. Except... it looks like we're still waiting on their 2010 version... I can only find the laminated preprinted one on RR, looks like they're sold out now too.

We have the Add-A-Century, but you can't go back far in Prehistory with that if you use their included date stickers. It only goes back to 4999 BCE. It is super nice though.

 

You may also want to look into timeline software, I love the flexibility. There are two out there that like - Easy Timeline Creator and Timeline Maker.
