newlifemom
Are they good to help children on the spectrum calm down? A friend heard this and wondered at its veracity. I told her I would ask all you wise women (and men).
Jean in Newcastle
Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate and magnesium does help with anxiety. . . so my guess would be that it could work.

Peela
Yes. As Jean says...magnesium is good for anxiety. It is a relaxant. Epsom baths are a traditional way of soothing sore, tired muscles as well as stress. You can also just use foot baths.
newlifemom
Cool. Maybe I should try it now. I am freaking out as we are buying our first house ever and closing is Friday and our taxes aren't going to come in time and so we are scraping the proverbial barrel. :glare: Pam [who is looking for the foot bath, but thinks it was packed along with the Epson Salts]
helena
I can't say for being on the spectrum, but I do use it for both of my daughters who have Tourette Syndrome. They have many issues which are helped with epsom salt baths including anxiety, sleep issues, muscular pain, and anxiety. We talked to our Dr. about it, and he encouraged us to use it as one of many tools. I definitely don't use it every day because 1. My kids count swimming in the pool everyday as a bath :D and 2. I figure too much of anything is never good. Here's a little thing on it: http://www.proactivehealthnet.com/healthBB/showthread.php?t=
Food4Thought
I've use them with my son on the spectrum (who usually gets waaay overstimulated from baths). The salts help. And I use them for myself, and usually feel so relaxed afterward I can't stay awake.

I am going to try this for Dragonrider. --- I wonder if taking an Epsom salt bath before attending a potentially anxiety producing meeting would help?
