susankenny
Hi, I'd like to find out what my daughter's reading level is. Many of the books she reads do not have the RL on the back. Is there a simple test or something that she can take? It's not that it matters necessarily (as she is reading well), I'm just curious.:) Thank you, Susan Edited May 20, 2010 by susankenny

PineFarmMom
http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/articles/060899.htm There's a reading test there. From the looks of it, I don't know that it would be 100% accurate, but it might give you a good idea. There is another one I did for my dc a few years ago that involved note cards. I have no idea where I found it, but it was online. I'll see if I can't find that one as well. Also, if you go to Microsoft Word, I believe, you can open a document and type in the text from a book your child has read and then run a reading level check on the text and it will tell you like 2.2 meaning early 2nd grade or 3.5, etc. I need to try it again to see how it was done. I used to know how to do it but it has been a while. I'll try to post later. It's chore/breakfast time right now.
LuvToRead
I use the same one as Texas T. It is very simple. I agree, I don't know if it is accurate. But, I think it gives some guidance.
EKS
You could use the DORA. Or you could look up the books on Reading Counts http://src.scholastic.com/ecatalog/search_titles_1.asp?UID=E7FA1D9168634ECB8543104AD5AD2044&subt=
