Pam L in Mid Tenn
I just thought I'd let you all have a quick update. (If anyone cares) :) Somehow just the fact of POSTING gives me some closure to all the questioning for this academic year. The simple act of posting my plan solidifies it in my mind. Back in the fall I asked several questions about getting my 17 yog through her senior year of home schooling high school. Her illness COMPLETELY changed our plans for her senior year and her freshman year in college. Sometimes our best made plans can be completely swept away because of unforeseen circumtances. (I'm not going to rehash the illness and all our problems. You can find my old posts IF you'd ever want too. LOL ) She saw 2 specialists last week and has several tests scheduled for the rest of the month. Some days she feels fine and can do lessons wonderfully well. Other days she can not get out of bed or read a book at all. I've decided to: Get as far and we can doing the best we can. PERIOD Her grades are due on May 20th. I've got at least 2 or 4 written assignments for each class this semester to grade. She'll get a full credit even if she hasn't completed a full 150 hours or 100% of a book. Part of me wants to just quit now, but we can do the best we can until May at least. Added to all this is that: my dh might lose his job in June; my 12yob has been diagnosed with migraines; I'm having "female" problems and may be facing surgery in April; if dh gets a new job we'll move immediately; and more (but I'll stop there). In reality, we may not get an awful lot of high quality academic work done between now and May 20th. In fact, very little may get done. But, I've come to the conclusion that learning to navigate life's problems gracefully is much more important than getting a scholarship, taking AP tests, or acing Algebra. So there. I've posted. And, when I begin to wonder or question... I can come back to this post and remind myself of my plan. Thanks to everyone here that has PMed me, replied to my posts, given me some ideas, or given me a cyber hug! :grouphug:

TeacherZee
I'm going to tell you a not so secret secret. Bricks and mortar schools rarely finish the book. They rarely finish all that should have been done. You know why? Because starting about now there are field trips, and senior days, and information about this that and the other that takes time away from school. Plus (and I am involved with PS) there is rarely a day when a WHOLE class is there anymore. There is always someone missing for an orthodontist appointment or a doctors appointment or or or... Your daughter can at least pick up where she left of without someone taking time to explain for the third time what is going on because a different student is missing each day. You can at least keep :auto: and that will make a difference. I do hope everything works out for you but know that she is probably not behind in any way shape or form, even if nothing gets done. :grouphug:

Tree House Academy
I hope you don't mind, I really feel led to say this and I pray I am not overstepping my bounds: You are doing something right because Satan is on you like white on rice (I'll throw a little southern slang your way since I am a Southern girl and all. LOL). It is obvious from your post and the pile of struggles you are enduring right now. Think back to Job - he was doing it right. He was living for God and suddenly Satan just started loading him down with burden after burden...trying to kill his spirit and trying to force him to renounce God. He didn't. In the end, it served to bring him CLOSER to God. I ask you now to go to God - cry out to Him and He will listen. You are right to take care of yourself and your family right now. You are right to know that school doesn't mean the world when you have a child who is facing a chronic illness and you don't know what it is. It is scary! Add to it all of the battles you are facing and it just screams to me that Satan is trying hard to get his foothold on your. Don't let him. I rally in prayer for you and your family right now. I pray for healing for your children and peace that passes understanding in this time of such trials. Psalm 22:24 For he has not despised or disdainedthe suffering of the afflicted one;he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. Psalm 71:20-21 Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. Matthew 11:25-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Pam L in Mid Tenn
Rebecca: You have not overstepped at all. In fact, you have spoken God's Word to me. I've been questioning , "God, why are you allowing all this at the same time?" And, despite a STRONG spiritual warfare knowledge, I haven't even considered Satan's hand in all this. I tend to see everything that I am doing wrong and almost NOTHING I'm doing RIGHT. So, thank you so very much for posting this to me!!!!! AND: It is absolutely amazing how much freedom I felt yesterday AFTER posting my plan. Thanks to all. :grouphug:

I felt so compelled to write that, I could not even type it fast enough. I felt the Holy Spirit as I read your post. You know the feeling, I am sure...the words burst out and suddenly you have put something together and are amazed that it came out so well. I know that is God's word pouring out when it happens. I am praying for you and I am so glad you are starting to find some peace. :grouphug:
Pam L in Mid Tenn
It is a good thing I posted this already. I had a VERY frustrating day!! DD17 feeling depressed because she feels so bad and can't do school work well. DS12 in bed with migraine all day. I am depressed because I have not been able to handle all this.....I was getting terribly angry and then I remembered.... Oh yeah.... I am ONLY doing the BEST I can until May 20th. This is the BEST for today. :chillpill:
