Suzanne in ABQ
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of observing the 8th grade math class at our local private school. They spent the entire hour "studying" the differences between a rectangle and a parallelogram. The teacher gave them pipe cleaners, and instructed them (8th graders!) on the fine art of creating rectangles, and turning them into parallelograms (and back again!)! She then gave them homework, and left them to do it on their own tonight.
I talk to the trees
You meant to say "8-year-olds," right......right? *shakes head sadly*
Jean in Newcastle
So did the kids find this new and exciting or did they find it terribly easy and boring? (It would be worse to me if it was new information for the kids).
Snickerdoodle
An entire hour? :(
Suzanne in ABQ
A couple of the boys complained at the beginning of class, and she made them leave (went back to their regular classrooms, I guess) The rest just settled in a played with their pipe cleaners, (yes for the entire hour). To be fair, I don't know if this was a remedial class or what. They were having class in the dining room of the church, and I was working in the kitchen. But, yes, they were 8th graders (bigger than me).
Mom-ninja.
I wonder if the teacher was having a bad day, and didn't feel like teaching that day.
johnandtinagilbert
If I didn't see where live, I'd ask if you were in RI...sorry, couldn't help myself with the snark!
