I didn't realize it was from FB when I got the first one. It somehow got through McAfee and we had to reformat everything. Just beware. LauraGB Posted January 2, 2010 Share Posted January 2, 2010 My MIL did. She rec'd a message from one of her nieces asking something about a video she had seen her in. Naturally, mil clicked on the link, and the whole computer froze. She ended up having to dump everything and do a system reboot. Apparently it had happened to enough people from her niece's friends list that the niece sent out a warning message to everyone stating the message wasn't actually from her and not to open it. Anyone can make a FB application, so all those quizzes, hiding things, gifts and polls are written by people, not FB employees, and they could hide anything in the code. Spinning Posted January 2, 2010 Share Posted January 2, 2010 I haven't gotten one from FB, but I used McAfee on all our computers and have gotten the Vundo virus on 2 of them in the past 3 months--and it's a nasty bugger. Had to reformat one and worked on the other for several hours. I was on a our local homeschooling board when I got one of the viruses, of all places. Needless to say, I'm not using McAfee anymore.
