Possibly the last "would you eat this?" thread of 2009...

Recommended Posts

I made up a batch of cookie dough (butter cookies: self-rising flour, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, real butter, and one egg) in the afternoon on Christmas Eve (Thursday). We had unexpected company, so I didn't get to make the cookies. Instead, I put the bowl of dough into the refrigerator, expecting to get back to it that evening. Well, I didn't. So I took the dough out to soften a bit, then took it from the bowl and wrapped the ball of dough in plastic wrap and returned it to the refrigerator. Now it's Monday, and I finally have time to roll & cut & bake the cookies. Is this 4-day old dough still safe to use? I wouldn't hesitate, except that it has egg in it (a supermarket egg, not farm-fresh, if that makes a difference.)
