ereks mom
I made up a batch of cookie dough (butter cookies: self-rising flour, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, real butter, and one egg) in the afternoon on Christmas Eve (Thursday). We had unexpected company, so I didn't get to make the cookies. Instead, I put the bowl of dough into the refrigerator, expecting to get back to it that evening. Well, I didn't. So I took the dough out to soften a bit, then took it from the bowl and wrapped the ball of dough in plastic wrap and returned it to the refrigerator. Now it's Monday, and I finally have time to roll & cut & bake the cookies. Is this 4-day old dough still safe to use? I wouldn't hesitate, except that it has egg in it (a supermarket egg, not farm-fresh, if that makes a difference.) Jean in Newcastle
It's been refrigerated so I would think it is safe. That and you are going to bake it. I wouldn't eat it raw.:)
M&M
I don't see any problem with using it. We often use dough for cookies a little at a time over the course of several days. I would bake them today and enjoy.

I talk to the trees
As long as you are baking it, I see no reason why you should toss it. No licking the raw dough off your thumb as you put them on the cookie sheet, though!;) -Robin
LauraGB
I'd use it. The grocery stores sell cookie dough and I'm pretty sure they don't throw away the stuff that doesn't sell the same day.

gardening momma
I made lots of butter cookies this season (I won't tell you how many I ate), and I always kept part of the dough in the fridge for several days (less than a week) until I was ready to use it. homeschoolally
I make a biscuit/dough mix weekly that contains egg. I make a triple batch and refrigerate it to use as needed throughout the week. We've never had a problem at all, and used it well over 4 days at times. Enjoy them! =)
