Luanne
We want one that is cordless and has an answering machine. The one we are using right now used to be my parent's phone and it doesn't work very well anymore. What is a good brand to get? It has been a long time since I bought a new telephone. Erica in OR
We bought a Uniden 5.8GHz (TRU9466) cordless phone system a couple of years ago (see http://www.staples.com/Uniden-(TRU9466)-5.8GHz-2-line-Cordless-Phone/product_637418?storeId=10001&jspStoreDir=Staples&cmSearchKeyword=uniden+5.8&fromUrl=home&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&cmArea=SEARCH&ddkey=StaplesSearch). It's a bit pricey, but we've been totally happy with it. We recently added a couple more cordless handsets (one in the garage, one upstairs), which then communicate with the base portion (the part with the answering machine). We had wanted cordless with an answering machine, along with caller ID, and ended up with this as our choice. Erica in OR
MicheleinMN
I like my Uniden. It has been a great phone. HTH
Jann in TX
We have had our model for more than 3 years--longer than any other cordless phones we ever had. We have a large house--so we have an extra charging station (3 phones total). The only feature we don't have on ours that I really really miss is the 'key pad' on the base station--so you can call out or pick up calls when you can't find a handset! (we also have one old fashioned corded wall phone because the power tends to be unpredictable here in the winter months).
Jen500
We had a Uniden for about 4 years. I liked it, but the battery stopped holding a charge. We've had a Panasonic for 5 years now, no problems.
mktkcb
We have a panasonic with 2 handsets. Not incredibly expensive, but it works great for what we need it to do. The answering machine is on the main phone holder.
