JudoMom
Use this recipe, but use vegetable shortening instead of butter. And don't overbake--I usually bake these a maximum of 9 minutes.
LittleIzumi
Made these yesterday--super delicious, soft inside, and even dairy free (using Earth Balance or Smart Balance for the butter, still DELICIOUS) for dd: http://www.guittard.com/RecipeView.asp?id=100509 ETA: There are only 2 left and that won't last ;) Edited December 19, 2009 by LittleIzumi
Mandamom
I use the Tollhouse recipe but instead of using regular flour replace about 1/3 of that flour with wheat flour. They are definitely softer.

cjzimmer1
Here's the one we use. http://www.sacofoods.com/Recipe_Files/R00280.html A friend makes these for bake sales at church and people line up for them. They are always the first things we sell out of no matter how many she makes. Both she and I use all butter instead of the butter/shortening combo. cjzimmer1
My mom makes her cookies with 100% freshly milled whole wheat flour. I tell you what... they are hands down... the best chocolate chip cookies ever ;)Carrie Could you post her recipe? I'm looking to incorporate more whole wheat but haven't been very successful in the dessert department. Also what type of wheat is she using because I'm never sure if I should use hard or soft white or red for these things.
