jenniferlee
So, I know this is a little out there, but I didn't know where else to turn:001_smile: We have been watching the first season of the #1 ladies' detective agency series on dvd. It's such a great show! But, I have become enamored with the way Mma Makutsi (the assistant) dresses. This is very strange for me because I am not usually that into clothes - I shop all second hand and mainly go for comfort first. I do wear skirts quite a bit, especially in the summer, but I don't really have a certain "look". Anyway, this is the first time I have seen something and thought "wow, I want to dress just like her!" But I don't know where to find the clothes. So I though maybe someone here who has seen the show could help me out. I will try to find a photo, I'm not too good at links. She always has a cute little top with medium length sleeves and a collar with a vest or something over it. And the colors are so great! OK enough already. Strange, I know, but oh well.... Jen OK, here is a photo - that's her on the right :) I don't totally love the bow on the shirt, I like a plain collar better, but I think you can get the idea from this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/images/episode/b00jcnqk_512_288.jpg Edited December 3, 2009 by jenniferlee

jenniferlee
Wow - they do have cute clothes. Pricey, though! And not quite the right thing, but I can see some possibilities. Anyone else? Jen
Mrs_JWM
Could you try a search for misses sweater vests? I think if you found a few in some fun colors that coordinated with the skirts you already have and paired them with neutral tops, you could have a lot of great new outfits without spending too much! Try JCPenney's, Target, or Chadwick's - I think you'll find some cute things.
stripe
I agree, she dresses nicely. She seems to wear skirts and tops, and dresses. You could try some so-called African clothing for interesting skirt sets, such as http://store.africanapparels.com/afskse.html and http://www.yourafricanclothingshop.com/womens-skirts-skirt-sets.html . . . Oh, sorry, I was thinking of Mma Ramotswe.
Veritaserum
She always looked retro to me--like 30s or 40s. That's a good show. :)
HRAAB
And don't forget her shoes.
stripe
Yes -- definitely. She is a major shoe-lover.
jenniferlee
You are right - it is a little retro, isn't it? I hadn't thought of that. I'm very bad with eras and fashions, though. Yes, the shoes!! I think I'll have to figure out something else for the shoes. I just don't do heels. Jen
