JenniferB
My dad had cancer, and to prolong his life he went on the Gerson therapy. He lived 9 years longer than the doctor's predicted, but he still died at a young age of a terrible form of cancer of the nervous system. I've juiced on and off all my life, and just started up again today with my husband as my team mate. We really want to prevent cancer, so we've been jogging and now we're juicing. Little by little I think we're getting back on the right track. It's so easy to get off track isn't it?
HRAAB
I think this is the same diet my bil followed after being diagnosed with cancer. Doctors told him he had maybe four months; he lived five years doing the things he enjoyed most: fishing, hunting, hiking. He never regretted taking that course. HRAAB
Out of curiosity, what kind of juicer are you using? I remember my bil saying the type of juicer made quite a different in the quality of juice you get.
JenniferB
Gerson therapy patients are supposed to use the Norwalk juicer, but I use a Breville (centrifugal force) juicer. It's supposed to be fine for maintenance and prevention.
tricia
You will be amazed at how great you will feel once you get into it. I've been juicing regularly now for 3 years and I love it. I hate, hate, hate carrot juice tho but make myself drink it!! Good luck and keep it up.

JenniferB
I made carrot, apple, beet, spinach today. Carrot/Green Apple is the staple of the Gerson Therapy. I also purchased this book to get more ideas: Power Juices, Super Drinks: Quick, Delicious Recipes to Prevent & Reverse Disease by Steve Meyerowitz. It arrives on Monday. So, maybe I'll post more ideas after that if anyone is interested. Edited November 29, 2009 by JenniferB
Rebecca VA
Is Vita-Mixing almost the same thing? I'd love to try the juicing route but don't want to lay out the money for a juicer right now. We have a Vita-Mix. Would that work?
JenniferB
I'm sure Vita Mixing would do your body very well. :D Go for it!
amy g.
Thanks for the reminder. My son wants a juicer for Christmas. I should go plant the spinach, beets and carrots today. I have a place all ready for them.
gandpsmommy
Can I ask a few questions? I've never done this, but have read a little about it. How often do you drink juice? Is it for all your meals or just one or two a day? If it's not every meal, what else do you eat. Thanks!
JenniferB
I'm starting out with 1 juice a day in the morning for prevention. I'm also decreasing my red meat/animal proteins to a little at dinner, and going vegetarian for breakfast & lunch. I drink water the rest of the day. I'm looking into eating more raw foods, but I'm still wondering how to do this. Anyone else want to chime in on that? Does anyone have a vegetarian book recommendation?
