cathmom
Is anyone here allergic to sunscreen? If so, have you found one you can use? I'm asking because my dd's face was dry and I gave her some moisturizer with sunscreen in it to put on her face. Within a few hours, her face was red and puffy and looked sunburned. It made me wonder, because this summer she got really bad sunburn even though she had applied sunscreen. I just figured she had not applied it very well, but now I am wondering if she got sunburn AND reacted to the sunscreen! Poor girl! Anyway, I had some Eucerin for the baby, who also has very sensitive skin, so I gave her that for her face (should have started with that I guess!) and she did not react to it. But her face is still red and puffy from the other stuff. Anyone else ever have this happen?
Heather in the Kootenays
Ds gets hives from sunscreen. I have to search for brands he can use and it seems that as soon as I find one, they change the formula. Neutrogena is one he can currently use. AngieW in Texas
My youngest is allergic to Bullfrog brand and anything in a gel formulation. My niece is allergic to several brands, but does fine with Neutrogena.
Mommyof4ks
We use Aveeno Baby, because ds is allergic to most other brands. For faces we use straight zinc.
asta
We only use zinc or titanium dioxide. But not the "micronized" nano versions. Scientists just proved last week that all of those "fringe" folk were right about those types passing the blood barrier. a
Pippen
I can use Neutrogena or NoAd unscented. I'd try it out somewhere other than the face first.
The Girls' Mom
My dd gets severe contact dermititis from sunscreen. We can use Neutrogena with no problems. (she'll occasionally get a mild rash...but it could be from the pool water)
mooooom
but can use a brand I found at the health food store - we use Aubrey. The list of ingredients is very short. She had the same kind of reaction as your dd, puffy face, bloodshot eye, naseau...
runamuk
My son and I have the same problem. Neutrogena works well, as does Blue Lizard (it's thick, though).
Kareni
My daughter is allergic to parabens. You might look for a brand that is paraben free. (There are many types of parabens -- for example, methylparablen -- so read the label carefully.) Regards, Kareni
