redmom3
My oldest has first ten years of cherished teddies (packed away now). Nothing for ds. But, dd3 has the baby and year one of the Enesco Birthday Girls (Not 2 or 3 yet). Since we have another baby coming soon, I am trying to decide whether or not to keep up with the b-day girls, or just sell them now and not worry with it. I am sentimental, but already overwelmed with scrapbooks, and baby books not finished.
Laura Corin
Not for birthdays, but every time we go to a location (castle, museum, etc.) I buy a bookmark for C and a badge (pin) for H. They don't keep them as treasured collections, but I like the idea of their coming across them over the years. Laura
Desert Rat
I love this idea! My boys receive a Precious Moments figurine each year from my mom. While they are cute now, I can't see my teenage sons liking them much. But, I could be wrong. I kept the boxes (of course!) and plan on giving them to future grandbabies if my boys don't want them. Shelly in IL
When they leave they'll have a start on a tree full!!
adams101
My parents do the ornament thing at Christmas every year. And my dc are in the same boat. Another year or 2 and we'll have to give them trees in their rooms. My grandparents bought my cousin and I figurines for our birthdays for about 10 years. Both of us had our shelves that they were on fall off the wall and they all broke.:glare: I think I have a couple that didn't break, but they are in a box now. My cousin said hers were in so many pieces, she just threw them away.
Tracy in Ky
Dd9 gets Magz pretty much every birthday and Christmas. She loves her growing collection, and since they are rather expensive, we only buy them on special occasions.
Brenda in FL
My daughter gets the birthday girls each year from her aunt (well, there's been a couple of years she's forgotten, and so we had to make those up for her!) My dd just turned 9 and she loves getting them. As the mom, though - we don't do any collections like this for the dc.
