1GirlTwinBoys
Just curious. My daughter started CLE 1st this school year and I was wondering how similiar it was to PS 1st grade math (minus the Godly content of course).
Shelly in the Country
I think PS varies widely in what is used for math. You would have to contact your local school district to find out what they use before a comparison could be made.
christielee7278
Saxon is the closest to public school math here. Saxon sells to public schools and although I haven't seen it in the schools here, it looks just like what we had in our public schools. I use it with my oldest because it is so similiar. He went to public school for K-4.
Truscifi
Saxon is closest to ps here also. I used it last year, but it did not work well for us, so we are using Singapore this year.
Sue G in PA
Depends on the district. Around here the swear by Everyday Math (BLECH!) so anything you use at home would be better if they use Everyday Math IMHO! Some use Saxon. Some another program. Check w/ the district. skaterbabs
I sat down a while back and compared what is expected of a first grader in public school (the VA SOLS) with what CLE teaches and CLE covers a LOT more material (faster too.) For a child who may be going to public school in the future I think this may actually be a good thing; it's been my experience that public schools tend to fly through the basics of math without actually making certain kids get the fundamentals.
