KIN
These are outside cats, they live in the garage. We don't use a litter box. Would that keep them from pooping in the sandbox? Any other ideas?
mom2jjka
We put a tarp over ours and put a couple of heavy rocks on the corners to weigh it down - to keep the neighborhood cats out.
Tiff in TX
This is the very reason we don't have a sand box... well that and the fact that I can't stand sand:glare: I don't have any better suggestion than to put a lid on it if possible... hope someone comes along with a better idea! Catwoman
The only way to keep the cats out is to put a tight-fitting cover on the sandbox. Even if you found a way to keep your own cats out of the box, someone's cat will find it if you leave it uncovered! Cat
Dirtroad
Cover the sandbox with a tarp or hand built covering.
JennC
Probably not the most popular neighbor : ME I keep a trap next to my sandbox. It has an EMPTY tuna can inside. I don't want to attract cats, but this catches the ones who come by (usually). My husband is much nicer than me. He insists that I take the cats to humane society. Won't tell you what I'd do. After a cat's been trapped, it doesn't reappear too often. IME. Good luck.
Rosie_0801
How about planting cat repellent plants around the sand pit? Rosie
