  1. We have both wood and laminate. For some reason (probably the cost), last Christmas, I agreed to laminate in the kitchen where linoleum previously rested. While it is better than the old flooring, I would NOT do it over again. After our first time of installing the floor (where husband grumbled and just about cursed), a valve on the heater (radiator heat) was knocked on and water got under the boards making them buckle, ruining just about every board! Our second attempt, replacing all boards (not cheaper!) was about 5 months ago. The floor is now bowing and creaking in places. Not sure why!! On the other hand, I love my hardwoods. They are easy to clean and look nice even when dirty! JMHO:001_smile:
  2. having peach fuzz at around 11. He is six foot when he stands up straight, lol. He did start light shaving at 14. His younger brother, turning 11 has the same. His underarms, while not developing any hair yet, stink. I think its pretty normal, at least from my experience.
  3. My father died almost two years ago, out of the blue. We hadn't spoken in 20 years. I was grieved mostly by what would never be (a rekindled, healthy relationship - that probably would never have happened). Mom remarried when I was an adult so I don't think of my stepdad as a father-figure per se, but he has been the best grandpa to my kids! Happy Father's Day, Casey!
  4. I'm all for addresses, but only require my kids to use them until they are grown. A situation came up a few years back when I had asked my aunt about my uncle without using "Uncle" in front of his name. I was put back in my place and told, "It's Uncle ______, to you!" Now these are wonderful people, but so caught up in the titles of respect. I didn't think I was being disrespectful, a grown adult with kids, using a first name with another grown adult? Of course, I have since respected her wishes and call them by their titles. Just kind of felt a bit smaller after that day!!
  5. I looked for this online and only found it advertised from the UK. How did you get it? It looks like something my son could really benefit from! TIA,
  6. I just ordered two for my 9 yo ds. He has a horrible grip. Hoping this will work for him too. I will copy your rewards also :0) Thanks!:001_cool:
  7. I hesitate to even write this but I will...are you tithing? I find when our money is tightest, my release through tithing gives increase. If you already are, of course ignore this part of the post! I also just want to give you a big hug:grouphug:! I can relate to those types of pressures. Thank God your kids are safe!
  8. I just wanted to get some advice. As in past years the cast will all get books from which the play was adapted. They will also be getting a T-shirt commenerating their time at the camp and head shots! This was a windfall year for our little summer theater group. There is no cost for the participants, all donated by the community!! My son, 8, would probably like a few flowers. I'll discuss it with hubby. Blessings - is it Abbey?? Cheri
  9. Hi to all you thespians, I have two kids in summer theater. This is the oldest child's last performance tonight as she ages up next summer. I will definitely get her flowers. Now I also have a son who has a bit part, his first experience. I am trying to decide whether I should get him a smaller batch (not to out do sister) or not. What would you do? After three years of this I'm not even sure if the actors of the smaller parts typically get flowers or if it is purely the choice of the presenter. Is there protocol (not that I completely care, lol)?? Just wondering.
  10. We also have forced hot water heat. I'll have to look into this. I have little idea on how this all works (how our heat works, lol) but will get some learnin'. It would be much better to heat the water with the panels than getting bled dry by our natural gas company! Rates went up 90%! Bless you! Cheri
  11. Thanks Happygrrl! I will dive into this tomorrow :0) Cheri
  12. I've been trying to get info on solar panels. It is extremely confusing. I'm sure this is a very costly endeavor and won't happen for awhile but just wanted to get info that I understand!! For example: Looking at solar panels for sale, there are ones of various wattage. If you buy a panel that is labeled 100 watts, does this mean you can run a single one hundred watt bulb off of it? How many panels would someone need to cover the electricity of a home? I'm sure it depends upon the home's size. Our home is 1700 sq. feet not including the 1000 sq. feet of unfurnished basement. The monthly bill averages around $100. It would probably take a L-O-N-G time to recoup our investment. I dunno. I guess I just want to see what its all about. Just wondering if someone has some experience and could direct me to a Solar Panels for Dummies website! TY,
  13. I did this not to long ago and don't have pregnancy for my excuse. I thought I had paid my hairdresser and insisted, when she called, that I had laid the check on her desk. She searched for that check for days and finally called to say it was nowhere to be found. I sent her another check. Two weeks later I found it stuck in the back of my checkbook, fully written out, under the deposit slips! I am too chicken to tell her. She'd be really nice about it, just am too embarrassed.
  14. It's just amazing and mind-boggling how quickly they grow up. Yep, I baby him and the other two tell me so! He seems much "younger" than his older brother was at this age. I wonder if this is part of being the baby of the family, if we all "enable" him, lol! Is there an AL-ANON group for this?? Happy Birthday to your baby!
