Thanks for all this WONDERFUL and HELPFUL input, ladies! This post is exactly what I needed...this is where I am at, right now. We are currently finishing up our first official Sonlight year. Really enjoyed it but wondering if we're "missing" something. I searched out TOG on the web a few weeks ago. I have always been a "WTM chronological history junkie" but was never very organized. I used to feel a bit of anxiety over "getting it all in"!
TOG: sounded appealing as a chronological study, more hands-on, etc. I did NOT like the website, very confusing. But so was Sonlight a few years ago (I think it's improved) until I had a catalog in hand. I requested a catalog from TOG but it hasn't arrive yet.
SL: I am so appreciative that SL got me on track! My dd, 7th grade did Core 6 very independently this year. After about the second week of me trying to stay with her and guiding her, she declared, I've got it, mom. Secretly I was relieved, since Iwas nursing baby and had 2 ds (ages 8 & 10) in Core 1+2 and 2 dd (ages 4 and 6) learning to read and doing BFIAR. Anyway, 7th grader has been ADDICTED to SL. She does her SL on days off, declares I LOVE SL!! Ds also love the books, especially the read-alouds.
Just sorting this out in my mind while giving you my .02:001_smile:
