  1. Yes, he is going to CC because we found out it is more worthwhile money wise for him to take his first two years there and then go to the college of his choice. Since he wants to be a computer engineer most of his first two years are basics and science. I've talked to a few people who just finished college taking two years CC first. I planned on setting up a meeting next week with the CC to find out what we can do to make this an easy transition.
  2. I am trying to find sneaky ways to spend more time with him. :-) Anyone else know that feeling?? Yes!!!
  3. My ds is a senior this year and I'm going crazy trying to know what I should be doing and when to make sure everything falls into place. Maybe they have a book for us homeschooling moms. I ask myself what do I need to have prepared for the college to look at. Take the SAT in a few months or not? If the school doesn't require the SAT is there a benefit to my dc taking? What are some of the things we should firm up this year before he starts college? Before he walks out on his own two feet? So many questions, so little time.
  4. The thing that works well with my dh and I is that I'm a clean freak and he is a neat freak. If my dog did that while I was gone, my dh would have had it picked up but I would have had to come home and do the sanitizing or bleaching of whatever area may have needed it.
  5. You ever notice that when you do have a few hours of alone time there are just too many things that need to be done that what you wanted to get done never seems to be the thing/things that get done? Maybe I am alone on this one.
  6. I'm looking over what needs to be done before we technically begin 12th grade and I'm loaded with questions. 1. Can you take the SAT in place of the GED? 2. I know the GED involves Common Core but does the SAT also involve Common Core? 3. How would a dc pass a test based on Common Core if we've never taught them it? I feel so out of my league here. Any help or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Next question... Is there a way to get an extended family package? My df(darling Father) said that he thought we could book it that way and receive an even better deal. Any ideas?
  8. Summer is even busier than the school year. Plus my ds is schooling through summer so he can get done with his last year early. I have this "weird" eye condition that they can't figure out. My father has it and they did surgery for him but it didn't help. I have these pains that will shoot up one eye at a time just out of nowhere. Sometimes it will happen if I'm startled awake. Other times it will just happen. It feels like someone just ran a knife up my eye. It is a piercing pain and depending on the severity will determine how much my eye waters. They diagnosed it as migraines but I'm supposed to treat them after they hit. That's pointless because unless it's real severe I can normally open my eye without pain within a few minutes. Once in awhile it's bad where I can't barely open my eye without pain or it will be blurry. Thankfully it doesn't happen in both eyes at once. My dad developed this problem a few years before me and he is 60. He has a tendency to get his extreme more times than not. Once it happens to him he normally is in pain for a while or has a blurry eye. I developed them about 5 years ago and I'm 37. Wish I knew what it was so we could both get relief.
  9. My dh is the same way. When I had to take my dd to the ED a few weeks ago, he dell asleep in the other bed. When he woke up he swore he wasn't sleeping when when I told him he was snoring.
  10. That is pretty much my question. My computer gives me issues each time I download a program but I really want my son to be able to mess around with a program. Any ideas or advice? TIA
  11. OK I've got to ask. What's behind the hula videos? They must stem from somewhere. I know I've missed a bunch of the posts.
  12. I'd like this post a thousand times if I could!!! Thank you for these words and your admonition.
  13. I am not even one percent worried about what "others" think. This is more of a "Do I feel like I could have done better?". There are times when I think we should have been able to accomplish more in a year than we did. The crazy thing about it is that when standardized testing comes around he shows himself to have learned more than I ever imagined. Yet, when it comes to those things like electives, I feel we could have done much better. I don't know how to change it because every year I sit down and plan and every year I work with my dc and every year I still feel I could have helped my ds get more out of the year.
  14. Welcome to the board. Jump right in. You will love it.
  15. Do you feel like you could have and should have been able to accomplish more with your dc?
  16. To throw away or not to throw away.. That is the question.
