  1. Oh, and we don't do timelines either. I'm not that organized and I don't know where I'd put it if we had one. I know some people don't mind schoolish things in every room (which is fine), but I want my home to look like a home. Maybe it's because I taught in a classroom before I had kids.
  2. (((Jean))) I sent my mom a card earlier this week and an email today. It was much easier than a conversation.
  3. Hope all of you feel better. Ds17 and I are listening to the game. Are you all cheering for the right team?
  4. I have the complete set. I haven't read it, although I did skim through it. I think it is probably just right for your ds's age. I used it as supplemental material for ds17 and dd15 a few years ago, but my involvement with it was, "Here. Read this." What questions do you have? I can try to take a look at it, or ask the older kids who have read it. I should have used it with dd13, but she absolutely hates history and I didn't have the will to fight her because that's when my migraines were really bad. I will probably use it with dd11 in the near future.
  5. Dh has learned to buy me chocolate to cover all potential mistakes at the grocery store. (FTR, I am the problem. I'm kind of picky in what sizes/brands/whatever.)
  6. I asked about what she likes to read so that I could make some suggestions, but my brain is getting fuzzy over here so I'll just post a few before I forget them. My Antonia -- maybe my favorite novel ever Jane Eyre The Three Musketeers The Lord of the Rings trilogy Murder on the Orient Express Pudd'nhead Wilson Animal Farm short stories by O. Henry
  7. I put my comments in green in the text above. Many of the books on your list I'm not familiar with. I'm wondering what kinds of books your dd usually enjoys. Many of these titles seem dark.
  8. Ds17 says he's rooting for the Golden Knights in the Western series. He says he's interested in how far they've gotten in their first season. Just so long as they don't beat the Capitals for the Cup.
  9. Ds17 has stuff like this happen to him all the time. He's a bit paranoid about it. Especially with the luck the Caps have had in the past few years.
  10. We're rooting for the Capitals. I'm not sure who ds17 wants to win this series, so I'm not sure whether to be happy about this or not. :) I'll get back to you.
  11. Tonight's dinner: Chicken and noodles and buttermilk biscuits It was yummy!
  12. Good Morning Afternoon! I spent the day sitting on my porch attending my yard sale and finishing My Antonia. We do not live in a good location for yard sales. I made $19.50. Which is $19.50 more than I would have made if I had just dropped the stuff at Good Will.
  13. Question about epi-pens: How can you tell if your epi-pen is still good?
  14. One time when I was leaving a store, two vehicles tried to park in my parking space before I was even completely out of it. I was able to get out, but neither of them were able to get in because they were blocking each other. As I pulled away, people were getting out of both vehicles and yelling at each other. It was ugly.
  15. (((Krissi))) I think the problem is that most parking spaces are too narrow. I drive a rather large vehicle and it is very difficult for me to park it at some stores. The arthritis is my wrists makes the problem worse. In fact, I often use my handicapped parking placard so that I can used the handicapped spaces. They are much wider and easier for me to maneuver. I have been on the other side of the situation, too. We have sometimes had to move our vehicle to another spot because we couldn't get the kids out of the car.
  16. I am having a Monday. Woke up to find out that one of the girls is sick. (She has no fever and seems to be feeling better, but apparently the flu is going around in our area again/still.) Homeschooled. Took ds17 to work and witnessed an accident. An 18-wheeler sheered off a light pole because he couldn't make the right turn wide enough. The truck kept going. Stopped by the police station to report the accident. (It was less than a mile away.) Picked up groceries. Took groceries home/put them away. Supervised lunch preparations. Called the police officer back (he had called while I was picking up groceries). I apologized for not getting the license number. He said, "That's ok. I caught him." Eating potstickers and ITTing. I'm ready for a nap.
  17. Some families on my street are having a yard sale on Saturday. I'm thinking about putting my GoodWill pile out there for a few hours to see if I can make a few dollars.
  18. Pasta casserole is in the oven. It looks like this (top to bottom): Shredderd mozzarella Pasta sauce Gluten-free rotini Turkey pepperoni Shredded mozzarella Pasta sauce Gluten-free rotini Turkey pepperoni Pasta sauce
  19. My last bloodwork was in June. She didn't order bloodwork in October. I didn't schedule my January appointment because it is an hour away and I didn't want to drive in snow/ice. Also, flu season. ETA: My bloodwork last year was within normal limits. Hemoglobin was 12 something.
