Yes, it's by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs- Love & Respect, ISBN: 1-59145-417-4 . He also wrote Love & Respect Workbook, although the text stands on its own. Highly recommended. -
GG, I didn't think I was passing condemnation on anyone. My point in posting was only to help clarify and to ask the RC's here to post a link explaining their doctrine. That's all! My apologies if I made you feel condemned. I don't remember adults in our RC church instructing us to "worship" anyone except Jesus Christ. Different churches, different teachings, I suppose. I know that in MY Orth church, we reverence Mary and the Saints, not worship them.

GothicGyrl and others, For all you guys who have posted inaccurate statements about Roman Catholicism.... it would be easily cleared up if a RC member would post a reliable link that explains their doctrinal beliefs. I can tell you now, though, that most of the statements made here were not accurate. Just so you know---- I was raised Roman Catholic but I haven't looked at their websites in a while so that's why I wouldn't feel comfortable pointing you to a good link. My dh and I were RC for over 20 years. Then we were Protestant for over 20 years. After that, we became Orthodox and have been this way for 8 years. We plan to stay here. There are some similarities between RC and O but there are also some similarities between RC and P. Regarding the *worship* of Mary and the Saints---- RC and O do not *worship* them. We reverence them, much like P's reference Luther, Billy Graham and many other P leaders both alive and dead. Do P's worship Luther or Graham or others in their Faith? Probably not but you sure reverence them. Consider this---- If you believe in live everlasting, then the saints of God who have gone before us are still part of the church. They continue to be our brothers and sisters in Christ, do they not? We ask church friends to pray and intercede for us. How is that different from asking those who have gone before us to pray and intercede for us? Are they not ALL "in Christ", both those on earth and those who have gone on? Can they not ALL pray for us? Regarding "works"---- RC and O both believe that works and faith go hand in hand. Leaving either one out can only offer imbalance. Orth Christians receive doctrine from several places--- Revelation, Tradition, Bible, Liturgy, Councils, Fathers, Saints, Canons and Church Art. The reason why not "Bible only" is because most of these doctrinal sources were around in the Early Church long before the N.T. Bible was even in written format. You can read more about O doctrine here: http://www.oca.org/OCIndex-TOC.asp?SID=2&book=Doctrine RC's should share a link for their doctrine and then the P's here can read for themselves. HTH some.:D

This is the same processor that I have, the 11-cup model. Don't buy anything less than 11-12 cups. If mine ever dies, I will likely go for the KA 12-cup one unless something better is around. I also love my KA prof mixer.

Question for you "Blogspot" bloggers
Anna replied to Anna's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Thanks, Meliss. Extra fairy dust coming your way. -
I've been poking around the blogspot site and can't seem to figure this out-- If you start a blog, how do you edit after you publish?

Oldest dd finished her grammar studies with EGPlus. Currently, she is in 1st year, 2nd semester of college, a Poli-Sci major. She's doing quite well with her huge, weekly , written work load. She made the Dean's List for her 1st semester and she is in the Honors Program. No regrets for using EGP on her but I will say this--- This dd is a natural expository writer and truthfully, I think her excellent writing skills are more a result of reading good books all her life because she never went through the years of grammar study. Currently a high school senior, youngest dd completed EGP a couple years ago and learned much from it but she still needed a little more grammar practice. I had her follow that up with a year of "Voyages in English". After "Voyages" I didn't see the need of putting her through any more grammar. This dd struggles more than her sister with expository writing but doesn't hesitate to research while working on a written project if she's unsure of anything. Last semester she received a B+ in English Comp at the CC. As a favorite past-time she writes fiction, poetry, songs, plays and speeches. Speech writing is the most challenging for her but she loves to write them and especially loves to compete in oratoricals. At her young age she has already been requested to speak publicly and was payed for it. Oh, and she is type 1 diabetic and bipolar so even these medical conditions don't hold her back from enjoying her writing. Overall, EGP has served us well. My goal was not so much for the kids to be experts in grammar but to be able to use their skills to successfully read and write their way through life and they are. Most importantly, is to be aware of the grammar skills that each of your children need and to treat each child as an individual. What may be adequate grammar studies for one child may not be quite enough for another. And yes, of course there is much more grammar you can learn above EGP. Just keep your goals in mind. :D

What do you do for YOU?
Anna replied to Jennifer in MI's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Yep, I'm with "momof7. I enjoy frequent dates with dh and other things we do together...... when we're alone..... if you know what I mean.;) -
Chickenpatty, I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. My 17yodd was diagnosed with type 1 back when she was 7yo. I know exactly how you feel. Please feel free to PM me if you want to talk. As for bracelets---- One of those nice, soft rubber ones are so much more practical and won't break while your dd is being a busy, active young lady:). Plus she can sleep with it on, another good feature. If there is ever a middle-of-the-night emergency, you'd want that to be on her. Well, she should have it on her 24/7 ICE (in case of emergency).

My youngest hated story books for the longest time. Even after she learned to read at age 6-7 she hated reading stories. I decided back then that I would give her some leeway. We always had a variety of books in the house so when we would have free reading time I allowed her to pick and choose. Her favorites for the longest time? Encyclopedias and dictionaries. What's wrong with that? Eventually she did get tired of them and finally began sticking her toe in the novel waters. Ten years later at age 17, she is an avid reader and writer. She writes stories, speeches, poems, songs.... you name it. She just had to develop the habit on her own time frame.
