  1. This is on sale until midnight. Anyone use these? Recommend? Thanks
  2. I know foster families are not allowed to make these decisions for the foster children. Just wondering if it makes a family unqualified to foster. Thanks
  3. It had class 1-3 rapids. My 6 year old was allowed to go and we had a great time. They put him in the middle of the boat rather than the edge. He didn't have a paddle, just held on. My 11year old did get knocked out off the boat. I was scared for a second but she did what they taught us and we got her back in the boat no problem. A person could get hurt if they don't hold the paddle correctly as it could shoot back and hit someone in the face but we all held it correctly. Class 3 were plenty exciting enough. I don't think I would ever do 4.
  4. If you wait much longer the antibiotics will not help them, only keep them from spreading. We all had it earlier this year. I didn't do the antibiotics because I am allergic to the type used. I second the use of the vit c and yes it should be the type previously mentioned. You can get it from Bronson labs. People need to stay away from babies as it can cause death. I had my throat clamp down where I couldnt breathe. It w terrifying until I figured out how to get out of it: don't panick and take a sip of water.
  5. I went to Office Max last night and picked up two magazine holders and labeled them "bills" and "hold.". Also, picked up a 13 pocket organizer to place paid bills in for each month and the last one will hold receipts. I have never saved receipts and so often wish I still had a receipt. Thanks for the ideas friends. Also, I sorted through a stack of insurance statements over an inch deep. I also got a handle on organizing all my loose medical reports that I am punching into a binder.! Now just have to try to get started on the checkbook and hope I have enough discipline to keep it up and that my hold box will be big enough. Thanks!
  6. My son has this device. He is interested in downloading things and using street pass. I have looked at the manual but don't understand the purpose. Can he do educational activities (beyond hand-eye coordination) with his device? What are some games that your children like to download? Can you explain the street pass option? Thanks! Christine
  7. Thanks FeFe. Nest of 3-Do you set a certain time each week. I need a schedule for all the things I need to do around here. Maybe I should just start a new ledger with the few books I can find for now and move forward from here. Thanks everyone.
  8. I looked at YNAB as well as MINT. Do those balance your check books? :) Do you have to give information about bank and credit card accounts? Maybe that is something I should look into moving my info to next. What are the benefits. Do most of you set aside money each month for upcoming infrequent bills? Do you put it into a separate account? Mama Ann, I need something like this. If I could just find the perfect thing. Maybe it is a big filing cabinet but I don't know where I would put it. Thanks everyone for all the info.
  9. I am happy to report that I actually did some work today with this aspect of my life. I figured out some of the basics of excel and listed as many of the bills and things we spend money on. I am sure there will be a few I have forgotten but I can add them as they come up. I am hoping to figure out what we spend and get on track with budgeting. I just printed out calendars for the rest of the year where I can write what is due when as well as when the money comes in. I also called today and put us on the yearly plan for the gas so that we won't have a huge bill in the winter. Also, for it to be auto deduct. Finally, I gathered all the information on our credit cards and banks websites. I made a little manual for my husband of the security codes and passwords for the various items. Now I just have to figure out how to get myself to balance our checkbook. I haven't done it for months on end. I don't even know if I could find all the books. Also, I have to find a system for storing the bills and keeping all my information together. Also storing all the statements from the insurance company. The paper piles in my house are a big problem. Thank you everyone. I think I pulled some tips from everyone who posted!!
  10. I am ashamed to admit that we don't really keep a ledger. If I had to prove I paid a bill I would be hard pressed. I need to change this before catastrophe hits. I don't really know how to do a spreadsheet or use quicken. Is quicken a disk that you put in your computer? I have been reading about mint.com but I am not sure I trust having our cc info in there. Basically I am very unorganized. I need help. Any more input? Thank you.
  11. Thank you for your replies so far. My dd took physical science, algebra, Spanish, English, band, choir and transitions (which was a complete waste of time.) We wish we had her in biology. So...biology, geometry,English, history, Spanish or Latin. If she was at the ps they would have her in choir which she loves and band which isn't that exciting. She is talented at the piano and would love to play all day. Jenny I would love to hear more about your plans for our child. Thanks everyone!
  12. Haha. Not HOSING but hs-ing. I don't know if this is something that will happen or not but I want to be prepared and somewhat ready. My child is college bound and hopes to become a NICU nurse. I understand I should look at college entry requirements and try to map out a plan for the remaining years. I will do some searching on the forums but was hoping some could help point me in the right direction. We have done Kolbe in the past with some success. She did frehmen year at ps and enjoyed it as well as received all A grades. What are the main subjects for 10 th and what are your recommendations? I know this is a lot to ask. I would be grateful for any help. Thank you.
  13. I am so sorry. Hard times like this can make a person stronger and draw closer to God. His life is still an open book with unlimited potential. :grouphug:
  14. I am so happy for you. Wish I could have a baby, too! :grouphug:
  15. Which teaching textbook would you move to after finishing math u see delta? Thanks
  16. Anyone have suggestions on how to be better at balancing my checkbook, paying bills on time and budgeting? Are there any products you would recommend? I need help! I have an iPad but don't really know what to do with it. Thanks!
  17. Thanks for the warm welcome! I really appreciate your comments and well wishes. Lots to decide. My eldest told me today that she is thinking about hs ing this fall. I could use some help in improving various areas in my life so that I can be better able to hs. I think I will start a new thread.
  18. Hello to my hive friends! I just thought I would pop in and say hi. I have been having an incredible summer with my family. I marked my first year since finishing treatments on June 17th. Since then we have been having so much fun with a trip out west as a highlight! I am so grateful for every day. Now with summers end approaching I have to make some decision about homeschooling, returning to work, etc. My eldest child is in 10th grade at the ps. She did great although dh and i didn't love having her there. We feel so much happier with us all together. My next child is going into 6 th grade. She is absolutely the sweetest child but she shuts down when she is stuck on a concept. She is behind in her education due to my illness and recovery but I think with a really good year of hs ing she would be fine. I need to decide on whether to keep her home or send her. I want what is best for her but it is hard to think of her going to school. I want to be with her as much as possible. Then there is my 6year old son. I don't think it will be hard to school him. Thanks for listening. Miss you all!
  19. Never mind. I think we ARE going to go west to the Tetons and YS! Yes! :) Thanks
  20. Is the pageant, which is a live performance, awesome? Is it worth staying around longer to attend the pageant and have less time at our final destination? How long should we plan on spending to see the all the artifacts, etc? Thanks.
  21. Thank you for your replies. We are doing violin. My daughter is over half way done with book one and my son just finished Lightly Row. Thanks for the suggestions.
  22. Now what? Can we work with a non-Suzuki teacher and go through the Suzuki materials?
