Do I have to do it for each school or can I pick one school to send from? Thanks.

Thank you so very much for your detailed replies. I so appreciate that. My transcript has been perfectly arranged but I can clear out a section in the notes and list the courses taken elsewhere and grades. Can I include a copy of an official transcript and if they want an official one to send that later? Or will that hold things up? We do have a good reason although I don't know if at the time we said this was the reason. I went through cancer in her eighth grade and the emotional baggage from that carries forward. I did lots of follow ups in Houston and Philly (we live in the Midwest) and in her junior year at home I traveled again to TX to have a major surgery and both my dh and I were gone 3 weeks during the school year. If that would have been her senior year it would never have worked. We valued our time together and didn't want it to march on. We wanted and she wanted to stay another year before graduating.

When she was there they considered her as a 9th grader. After the year was up we decided to homeschool and as we went along we decided to just homeschool 4 years, thus making that year really 8 th grade. We didn't say she was doing a year over. She just did the next thing in all of her subjects. She did take more time to complete geometry (an extra semester) And Alg 2 was broken into 2 years. At our local high school they have the option to break Alg 2 into 2 years. She has enough credits from our 4 years of schooling.

My student did a year at high school. Their freshmen curriculum. She had all A's. We brought her home the following year and then considered that year her 8 th grade. So should we disclose that she did complete a year at the High school but it was her 8 th grade? First, I thought it would be easier to not disclose but maybe it is a disservice to her as it shows she can handle high school coursework aside from Mommy classes. She is now taking an AP class her senior year so that helps but there isn't a final grade with that yet. If we did disclose this how would we do so? Mention it in the notes section on her transcript? What does the Hive think about this? Thanks.

What to do with PA Homeschoolers on the Common App.?
Carpe Diem replied to swimmermom3's topic in The College Board
Hi Lisa, I am not an expert but I think you could just list the semester grades they gave you even though you dont have a hard copy of the semester grade and skip their transcript. You could try calling to verify they have the records of those grades so you feel you are greporting a true grade in the event anyone did some searching. I am not sure if I am understanding but are you saying your son's grade is lower because the teacher didn't get the test in time and that your son had a broken arm? Would it be worth it trying to email the teacher to amend the grade due to the situation? Good luck with your decision. Also, I am just realizing that you listed PAHS as another school in the common app. I should do that I suppose. What is a CEEB number? Good luck with your decisions on how to handle this. -
How about listing it on the transcript with X's for the first two strings of numbers and with the actual last four numbers showing?

We decided that we would put on her transcript 1/2 credit for PreCalc for the second semester. If she can do more over the summer that will just help her in college but she will still have her four years of math. She just took longer and didn't get as far but she will get there eventually.

Thanks everyone. Your replies encouraged her to follow through. She was pleased today. Sh said she wrote a masterpiece. We will see. -

Thanks everyone. She already has an 8 which is probably decent for her. Top 12% correct? I guess what I am asking is do the colleges that require writing let you send two test dates:one with a good writing and one with a good composite? We will already be sending the first test w/ writing. If she breaks into 30, and it mattered for more scholarship, then we would resend the second score without writing. Would colleges accept this? -

But if she bombs it but does get a better composite that we want to send would colleges look down on the poor writing score? -
Dd has a decent but not great act (28) with writing score (8) from April. She is retaking again tomorrow. She wants to try to hit 30. We will send current scores to schools and if she gets a better score maybe some colleges will consider more scholarship. If yes, we would send the new score. Should she not bother with the writing tomorrow (new format)? I don't think that she would score higher and I suppose she could score lower. Should I tell her to skip it if she wants? Thanks.

She didnt think she wanted or needed to but now she is changing her mind. We have gotten to where my student enters in the essay. Since this is a last minute idea she doesn't have her essay started. Hahahahhah. How do I go around this to enter in the counselor letter and whatever else that needs to be done (my stuff) while she is writing? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Ok. Good point. I guess she better get it done!
