  1. My student will likely finish math later in the summer while the other classes should be completed more timely. Should we put a later graduation date, say beginning of Auugust as that might be when she gets math finished or should we go with June and just let her finish after the listed graduation date? Thanks!
  2. My student has role played a weekend at a historic fort for the last 6 summers. Monthly meetings on historical info is part of the prep along with a paper. Can this be put on transcript? What would you call it? Thanks.
  3. Thank you Regentrude. How should the letter begin? To whom it may concern? Thanks
  4. I haven't gotten that far yet with the common app yet. Can you tell me if there is a specific set of info that is required? If I know then we can give a heads up for those who are drafting a letter before they actually get the emailed invitation. Thanks.
  5. A transfer student who will go to a college for two years at a college that does not do common app to a college that does? Does that student do the common app when they are a transfer student or should they do one now with current LOR? Sorry for not understanding this. Thanks.
  6. Is there a document to print to assist those who complete recommendations? Thanks!
  7. Thanks everyone for your replies. Here is the deal. Student has been working through Chalk Dust math. PreCalc is just beginning for senior year. Student does fine on tests at chapter level but scores 23 on math ACT each time it has been taken despite lots of practice. Would an A for Alg I, II, and Geometry (on the transcript) be questioned? Should the grades be changed to fit the 23 or does it fit 23?
  8. ACT composite of 28 is that an A student? What about a math score of 23 - 25? Would grades of A up thru PreCal be out of line? Thanks!
  9. Are these classes typically done in a semester, one after the other? Or are they done simultaneously and spread out thought the year? Any resources to augment the books we have: Volkomer for gov & Antell/Harris for economics. Thank you!
  10. Hello, There was a post recently where someone mentioned skipping some chapters of Conceptual Physics. I don't remember if it was due to a time crunch or feeling those chapters were not needed. I am wondering which chapters were chosen to skip and why. Anyone know the answer or recall this post? Thanks!
  11. Thanks LisaK and Kiana. Dd is likely headed towards a medical type career like nursing or nurse practitioner. I wish there was a way she could take ap stats and also do precalc. Knowing she is a nursing student possibly what would be the better choice? Stats or precalc. Sorry I am being so dense. Lol!
  12. Hello, Can you please advise as to what math to take after Chalk Dust Alg 2. I tried searching but wasn't able to find the info. I know it is there. Sorry to ask. Thank you, Carpe Diem
  13. Hi, My dd was stung by a bee yesterday. This is the picture of her leg tonight. yesterday it seemed fine. The outer purple line was where the redness ended two hours ago. The inner purple line was the edge of a hard ridge. Is this something of concern here? She has a doctors appt tomorrow at 2:30. I can wait until then to bring her in cant I or could this be something serious? She says it doesn't hurt, maybe itches a little bit. Thanks, Carpe Diem
  14. Hello, could a student using the conceptual physics book pass the SATII physics test? This student also did labs using Saxons labs in a small coop. Another student did more of the harder math calculations for the group. Thanks!
  15. Shar has a rental program that then you can then use your money spent towards a purchase. That is what we are doing. I think it is like $17 a month for full set up.
  16. We analyzed the essay examples and then practiced together around the table. It was sort of fun. We were told to be sure to make it 3 pages long and to be sure to pick a side and argue that but to spend one paragraph in counter argument .
  17. My dd used Chalk Dust for Geometry. She liked it and loved listening to him say the word "measure". However, when she took act practice tests, her geometry scores did not reflect that she had completed a whole year of geometry. Her score was the same as it was prior to taking geometry. :( She has been doing some more test prep and the score is going up a bit but not much. Not sure if this is a fault of Chalk Dust or not.
