  1. Good morning (and evening).

I have a lot going on today and tomorrow I have a medical treatment that will leave me exhausted and sleeping most of the day.  So, I'm afraid I am going to have to work really hard to get my words done in the next two days.

My goal for today will be working on showing the different stages of anger through dialogue and description with my characters. I'm hoping I can get ten minute writing sessions in here and there throughout the day and make it to my word goal.

I will be using the following as my stages:

bothered; mild irritation; annoyed; indignation; frustrated; infuriated; hostile; wrath; fury; and rage  (found list online)

Wrath, fury & rage seem like they would be very similar if not identical to me.  I may tweak the list some once I get started.

    Happy writing everyone!

  2. I made it to 25,082.  Past the halfway mark.  I'll take it!  lol

Happy with what I wrote today from the standpoint that I think the scene will become an important one in the story.  Needs to be cleaned up a lot though.  lol

  3. Yesterday I only managed to get 564 words done.  I did not feel well and my brain would just not work.  I have fallen behind from where I was at this time last year which sucks but I'm not going to give up.

Today is a new day and I've got this!  ?

  4. I spent yesterday working on dialog between my characters.  I will probably do the same again today.

@Seasider too You can also find NaNo on Twitter.  But...that's a whole nother rabbit hole you can get sucked down (at least I can!).  ?  I'm curious what writing course you are taking.  Is it something that is available online?

    @Pen  Fantastic word count!

@Ravin  I see you are plugging along.  Keep adding to those words.  It's all about consistency.

@vmsurbat1 1,000 words a day with guests!  ? That is awesome!

  5. I spent the day reading a book.  But in my defense, it was a really good book.  ?

0 words so far.  I may not worry about it until tomorrow.  Kind of nice to take a day off.

ETA:  Had to get a few words done so I could update my word count for the day.  lol  Wouldn't want to lose that badge.

My goal today is to double my word count to 4000 for the day.

     Wow!  Impressive.  Good luck!

My dd woke up not feeling well and went back to bed so school may not happen here today.  That means I may be able to catch up on my word count. ?

  7. Good Morning.

I wasn't as productive as I had hoped yesterday. 1016 words.  I needed to give myself a break though.  The time change has been kicking my butt the last couple of days and we had Ortho appts and errands to run.  If I don't get the majority of my words completed in the morning and early afternoon, I really struggle.

  8. I made it to 13,001 yesterday.  Woo Hoo

I'm not likely to have as successful of a day today.  Lots of things going on.  I will cross my fingers and aim for 15,000.

I have an easy time pulling together the beginning and ending of my stories.  It is the middle that is harder for me.  So, I will be working from some prompts today to try and flesh out what that looks like.

Keep writing!  Raven & forty-two I feel like we've lost you.  Don't give up!  You can still form a habit of writing every day during the month of November.  That is a win too!!

  9. In case you're feeling stuck or that inner editor is banging on your door, remember that “[t]he first draft is just you telling yourself the story.” ― Terry Pratchett

I saw this quote on NaNo twitter today and thought I would share. Definitely feel like it gives me permission to continue with some discovery writing.  ?

  10. Good Morning.  I made it to 10,846 yesterday.  I probably could have finished a lot more but I took a break mid afternoon and ran to the store.  This was a mistake as it totally killed my vibe, and I did not come home and continue writing like I planned.  ?

I may try to stretch my daily goal to 13,000 today.

    I'm way behind already.

No worries.  Write what you can and just enjoy it.  You still have plenty of time to catch up if that is your goal. If not, then work on building the habit of writing every day.

I really like Pen's use of the word "discovery" writing.  I have done some of that myself the last three days.

I keep typing sentences and then going back to delete several words and change them. I need to stop that and keep those words.

On a fun note, my MC killed someone today.  LOL.

  12. I also agree that it is easier to connect here.

@vmsurbat1 Are we already buddies on NaNo?  I'm Mandy67.

@Pen & vmsurbat1 excellent job on your word counts.  Pen you have surpassed me.

I didn't make my goal of hitting 10,000 words yesterday.  I'm struggling with my inner editor this year.  Plus changing up my whole storyline and characters two days ago has slowed me down.  My word count is 8,730.

I may try some tricks or more writing prompts today.

  13. @Pen  We are already buddies on NaNo.  Although honestly, I don't know how to connect other than to send dm's and view your word count on their site.  Good luck on your writing today and tomorrow.

@Seasider too Lol.  I agree!  November worst month ever to try and get this done.  ?  Of course, December would be even worse.

I've never done Nanowrimo before and wasn't sure if it has to be all one story. Of course I know it's the honor system but still, I want to play by the rules. I wonder if it's too late to change and declare myself a rebel. ?

I did write the idea down because I really like it and want to expand on it at some point even if I don't do it this month.

Some people do a compilation of short stories for NaNo.

I wasn't sure what thread this belongs in but this one seemed right.

What happens when you've been planning a novel for months and  you start writing it the first two days of Nanowrimo but a new book idea suddenly appears in your head screaming "Write me instead!" ? It's really irritating but a new idea keeps trying to come front and center. It's only an idea, a seed really. The one I announced is one I've been outlining and planning all along, and have written two days' worth.

This is probably just a vent and not a real question but if you've experienced this I wouldn't turn away any suggestions.

I'm going through the same thing.  I've had a hard time feeling inspired to write what I have planned.  In the last three days, my MC has shown me several different things.  First she was seventeen instead of an adult.  Yesterday I discovered she is a totally new character and the storyline is completely different.  I feel inspired though!  So, I am going to follow the new storyline and see where it takes me.

I say follow the story that is screaming to get out of your head.  If nothing else, put it all down on paper and include it in your word count.  You can always come back to it at a later date.  Or work on both stories during November.

    Good luck!

  16. @forty-two did you manage to find time for those twelve words yesterday?

It's Saturday.  I don't know about you but I have grocery shopping to do, a house to clean, and 2,000 words to write.

Using a writing prompt yesterday turned out to be a fantastic idea.  My MC has once again shown me that this story is not anything like I planned.  ?  But the new storyline has me excited and all kinds of new ideas keep popping in my head.  ?

Happy writing today!  Remember-10 minutes is better than nothing at all.

This is the key, is it not?  I got another 2000 down today and am taking a break. ?  If I get a few more hundred or not, we'll see.

I AM finding it helpful to feel to skip around from one event to another.  Like so many things, I should easily get 80% of what's in my head down, and it will be the last 20% that takes 80% of the effort.  I'm working on leaving the tough 20% for AFTER NaNoWriMo.

Wow!  You are already done for the day.  That is awesome!

Yes, I agree with skipping around.  Last year I just wrote what ever was in my head for that day.  I did have a beginning, middle, and end but they were written in no specific order.  I actually found that this method helped inspire me to a better beginning and ending then I would have had if I would have written in order.
