  1. obviously mix and match, but

    tacos or taco salad

    fajitas

burgers, baked beans and potato salad

    smoothies

greek chicken kabobs with rice, salad

    teriyaki chicken

    sloppy joes

    cole slaw

    fresh salsa and chips

fish on the grill or in foil packets

    salmon patties

pulled pork sandwiches with corn on the cob

  2.

The dryer!  My husband doesn't like "crispy" clothes, so I gave up line drying years ago.  I think it's time he adjusted, or at least if I only used the dryer for his, that's still four other people's clothes NOT using that electricity.

How about line drying and then just putting stuff in the drier for a short period of time to do away with the crispness?

  3. Fried potatoes with cut up hotdogs, then eggs scrambled in the mess was our version.  Never considered spaghetti in there!

Tacos, chicken fajitas (we just cook onions and peppers then add and cook the chicken-- no seasoning), sloppy joes.

Have a Schwann's man in your area?  They are high quality in my book for fast food.  They have frozen tamales or chicken kiev/chicken cordon bleu.  My dh just needs the chicken tenders and a microwave baked potato for a meal. :)

Italian sausages cooked through with a sauce made from catsup, coffee and worcestershire sauce.  One of my favorites.  You could easily add onions and peppers.

BLTs.  Taco salad with precooked taco meat from the freezer.  Black beans heated with cumin over rice--topped with onion, tomatoes, lettuce, crushed taco chips, etc.

Fresh sliced tomatoes and corn on the cob.  Ate this at least once a summer as a kid after picking tomatoes.   :drool5:

  4. To not spend all day/weekend at a soccer tournament. Except the club always schedules the tournament for Mother's Day weekend and I have three kids in soccer, one of which is just starting. Stupid soccer.

That's where we'll be, too.  Last time tho, as dd will be a senior next year, so I'll enjoy watching her.

Really, now that the boys are adults, I want any reason to have all three of my kids and dil together with me.  <3

  5. 3-4 days by myself. 😳I would never ask for it, because it would break my kids hearts, but I need a break. 😖

For this reason, dh has always been in favor of my having a 'sisters weekend' annually, and if he sees there's a women's retreat in the church bulletin, he always wants me to go.

  6. I have always found it strange that over there people get family members to do their own laundry.

Mine were all doing their own laundry by age 12.  I let them pick a day.   They had to learn that some days were booked. They couldn't bump the person who got that day if they wanted to do them at the same time.  As for the evenings, well if that's what they choose to spend their evenings doing...  I've got better things to do--sometimes. ;)

  7. Ham, scalloped potatoes, bread machine rolls, layered salad, asparagus, creamed corn, and my late mil's strawberry jello. Big group tomorrow, so I bought cheesecake and poundcake with fruit for dessert. Other family are bringing deviled eggs, beets, and veggie/relish tray.

I made Italian Easter bread for the work crew Thursday, and we'll make those again Saturday night for Sunday morning, for a different Easter treat. http://bakewithchristina.com/italian-easter-bread/#comment-5976

  8. I splurged on the Circa notebooks and put together several of those. One for recipes I use regularly, one for breads and sweets, another for vegetables and sides.   Nice to be able to pull a recipe out sometimes or change the order in the book.  They are what I would grab first if we had to leave the house suddenly.  :)

  9. Several months after gutting our kitchen, I was real good at fixing meals in the electric frypan.  Then dh hooked up my gas stove in the basement. I hated having meals in the basement.  Lots of paper plates, and the laundry sink for other dishes.  I was without a kitchen for 8 months.  Since then, we've only had everything from three rooms of the basement stuffed into the back corner.  Ugh.  I don't ever plan on having several rooms done at once again.  I have our room just about ready to repaint, but he wants to redo the closets in there.  Putting if off. lol
