  1. positives: both chairs and a couch, a fireplace, a huge bathroom, solar, sky light, spacious living space with a big back window, power everything (jacks, awning), just ok countertop space (seen more and less), big linen closet, fiberglass outer (instead of aluminum), the good, steady steps going into the camper. we have looked at A LOT of campers (on line) as we are about 2-3 hours away from any camper place of any size. (the place where the camper that we are considering is 2 1/2 hours away)....so making multiple trips to these places to look is also a deal...how many days can we spend doing that?? I am trying to decide if the storage is as big of a deal as I am making it since we are going from camping with 5 of us...down to just my husband and I. My daughter got married last Christmas and the 2 boys are in college and their camping days with us are either done...or coming to a close soon because of summer jobs and other such things. This is a HUGE purchase for us (even with a trade in) and we just don't want to think we will be ok with certain sacrifices and then later regret it.
  2. We are in the market to trade our bunk house trailer in for something just for my husband and I. We found one that pretty much has everything we want...size, weight, year, price, living space...power stuff...even solar panels to keep the battery charged...most everything....except 3 things. We are trying to decide if these 3 things are deal breakers or not. Would they be for you? 1) Bedroom: what we want is a bedroom with a little bit of space around the bed so you don't feel like you are getting dressed in a shoebox, plus side closets that are built either in such a way that there is a side table that goes under the closet (the closet being higher) or even a little cubby cut out of the side of the closet, instead of only having a place to set your "stuff" in front of the closet doors. Hopefully that made sense. So the camper we are looking at the bedroom seems really tight and no side tables. 2) Kitchen: I really want decent storage including a pantry from floor to ceiling and some drawers for utensils etc. And since I am short, it would be great if I didn't have to stand on a step to reach the microwave or the cabinets. This camper has very limited kitchen storage. The only 2 drawers are deep and narrow...not a great option for utensils etc. The only 2 usable cabinets are above the sink and a pantry where the door is floor to ceiling, but when you open the door, it's only 1/2 usable because the bottom half is filled in to make room for an outside kitchen. There is goofy storage space under the sink, but not very usable. And that's it, unless you count the storage under the booth seating. Everything is high....the microwave and the cabinets above the sink and the top shelf of the pantry. 3) Outside basement storage: we want something spacious enough to hold a fair amount of "stuff" with easy access. This camper only has one outside door (there is not a door on both sides) so the only way to get stuff that has been pushed to the other side is to go inside and lift up our bed. It's not the biggest space nor is it the smallest...but our bunk house had more storage in the kitchen and in the basement than this one does. SO...would any of these be deal breakers for you, if everything else was really pretty good? If not....how might you creatively make these 3 situations work effectively for you? (especially #2 and 3). We don't need to buy now....we won't be able to camp until the spring anyway...but if this is "as good as it gets"....we don't want to let this one go either. Thank you for your help!
  3. good to know. thanks...I never even thought of that.
  4. We are looking at used travel trailers. We have been to a bunch of different dealerships. We haven't found exactly what we want for the price that we want. We totally know we won't find the "perfect" camper....but we aren't in a big hurry either...so we are willing to shop around. We often wonder if it's smarter to stick with a dealership or to look on FB marketplace and Craiglist for a camper. I tend to lean towards the dealership, because they are supposed to fix and clean up everything before you buy it. But, might we get a better deal (money wise) taking out the "middle man"? But we also have a camper to sell or trade in. If we do the dealership, that is less messy. I also wonder if we are looking at the right or wrong time to make this purchase. Does anybody know anything about that. Is late winter to spring better? We live in a fairly remote area....so to drive to cities big enough to have camper dealerships is at least a 2 hour, but more like 3 hour drive....so it's not like we can just "pop in" and check their inventory. We have been looking online too...but that's not the same as walking into a camper and seeing what it really feels like. Any tips on this process will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  5. as empty nesters, my husband and I have started looking to replace our bunk house camper with a different one for just the 2 of us. Some that we have considered have 2 entrances...one into the main living/kitchen space and the other in the bedroom. My husband doesn't like that bedroom entrance and I am sort of neutral. Can you guys give me the pros and cons to that entrance? thanks.
  6. My son in law has a brand new, never been used 2021 Moto G stylus cell phone that he has been trying to sell with no luck. I was wondering if anybody knew of a source (other than Amazon) that trades phones for something other than a phone. I didn't get the back story as to why he has this phone, but I just know he is trying to sell it. To my knowledge he has only put it on his FB page...but he might be using other outlets as well. What other options might he have? thanks.
  7. She doesn't live close to me... otherwise, the meal idea would be good. Fabric store idea might be good. They don't live close enough to a big city that would provide a class. But that's a great idea too. Thanks.
  8. My daughter's birthday is coming....she just got married about 9 months ago (so they received LOTS of gifts recently) and they live in a tiny apartment, so she really doesn't need "just one more thing" to sit around...even her kitchen is nicely supplied. She likes to sew, but I don't...do I don't know what she might like. She is still in college, so gift card might be handy....but sort of boring....so...if you have any creative ideas, I am all ears. Thanks.
  9. these ideas are great. Thanks. I need some more ways to use the meat I have...pork chops, cutlets, steak, hamburger, minute steak, just to name a few things. I also have chicken, but not as much as the others. Thanks.
  10. Now that we are no longer feeding big boys (they went off to college) my husband and I have decided we want to eat lighter meals. I have soups on my list for when the weather becomes cooler. We live in a farming community and recently we purchased for a very good price a 1/4 of a pig and a 1/4 of a cow...so our freezer is FULL of a variety of cuts of meat. When the boys were home, I would make big meals...meat, potatoes, veggie etc. I know I could do the same and just make less...but I think overall, we want just lighter meals....so I am looking for some suggestions. My husband LOVES lettuce salad, but I dont' so much...I will eat some, but not like he does. If this makes sense to you and you have some ideas for me, please share. I am eager to learn how to cook differently for my husband and I. Thanks.
  11. I think I have extremely briefly.....but I am not sure why I didn't stick with it. Maybe I will try again.
  12. good to know. I know my daughter watches it....but I couldn't for the life of me understand why based on my 1st episode experience. I guess I always figured if the show didn't grab we right away, I wasn't going to waste my time. I better start learning to give some shows a better chance...or I might miss something really good, huh? thanks.
  13. I have been watching When Calls the Heart too. I like When Hope Calls too...but I can't seem to find season 2.
  14. which All Creatures...the original...or the newer version? i haven't seen either one. I haven't seen Greek, Love Victor or Abbott Elementary. Adding those to my list. Thanks.
  15. I have seen it as an option, but never tried it....I will check it out too. Thanks.
  16. I tried Call the Midwife...but I didn't watch the first 2 shows....so I will try that again...and why did you continue with Schitt's creek if the first season was boring....I would have dumped it...so now I guess, I better try it....
  17. we don't get Netflix...but I think I have seen the Good Witch Movies....I have watched that show....so I will check those out.
  18. it's the Love Comes Softly movie series. Where will I find the Detectorists?
