For my nephews it's mixed emotions like timidity, shyness,happy, expressive, a little of stubbornness yet when you explain it's ok, reading a lot and have many questions.

Yup they are watching , my nephews , it is like a family bonding , they've just sit their and listen, not misbehaving, the important things is their were adults beside them.

My cousin in elementary they are required to leave the books at school except when theirs a homework to do, but some books are gone missing others destroyed.

The punishment is more on discipline side, like when the child is grounded, this kind of act makes the child more cooperative and aware on his/her actions, this drive for being responsible.
