  1. Of course, my husband would kill me, given that we have three dogs. On the other hand my kids would love me, because they want a basset (cousin to the beagle). We've had three hound dogs before and love, love, love them. Their noses do, however, get them in trouble some time. Good luck finding a home.
  2. Which I have to read quickly because my children, especially my 10 yr ds, is walking around quoting passages, analyzing and asking questions that I can't answer. (Also it's my birthday in two weeks and I said we could watch the movie.)
  3. I am a notorious skimmer when it comes to reading anything (terrible habit)! BTW, my niece dropped by this afternoon and burst out laughing at my ziploc clothesline and when my husband returned from his walk . . .well let's just say neither of them think this has any staying power. But I am way too stubborn to quit after being laughed at. :)
  4. My kids received the children's audio version for Christmas and I remember hearing them laughing aloud at parts, and of course crying at others. This is a story most dog owners could appreciate.
  5. I'm not really sure why. I guess in my mind my homeschool contemporaries should all be the same age as me -- not me be as old has their mother! lol!
  6. . . .today I, for the first time ever, washed out my ziploc bags to reuse. This is a result of reading the threads regarding frugality. I just couldn't throw them away today knowing how easy it is to wash them (and knowing how many of you do reuse them). The guilt of throwing them away would be unbearable!! lol! I can hardly wait until my husband returns from his walk to see a little line of bags hanging to dry over the kitchen sink. I wonder what he'll say? Next might be the cloth napkins. (And before you think I'm the most environmentally unsound person there is, I do recycle many things and did use cloth diapers, etc. I just haven't given up all the conveniences.)
  7. It's very, very tough loosing a pet. Blessings to you all.
  8. I read it a few years ago but still think about it. Rose
  9. I am on the same bandwagon always telling people that it's worth paying for quality food. This particular dog has severe food allergies so we are limited to what she can eat. She also takes prednisone every other day, so of course that kind of scares me too. Our dogs are family members -- dogs saw me through years of infertility, through tough jobs, through adoption transition -- we hold a high regard to our relationship with them. Thanks for your concern.
  10. It has crossed my mind that maybe the one dog brought something back (like worms). I guess we'd better check all these things. Rose
  11. We have always fed our dogs high quality food bought through our vet.
  12. I don't think the food is spoiled because our other two dogs are lapping it up. I don't think it's worms although that's not impossible. She will eat the food if I "spice it up" (i.e. and water or yogurt). I sure hope it's not tumours, she's only 5. Thanks for these suggestions.
  13. My 5 yr bernese mountain dog seems to be turning her nose up to food over the last 4 -5 days. No other symptoms. Actually I think she doesn't like her food anymore. In all our dog owning years we've never encountered this. Is it possible for a dog to suddenly not like the food she's been eating for a long time?
  14. What did the co-ops use instead (or you personally)? Thanks for your input.
  15. Definitely having everything together in one place is a bonus! The lame jokes . . . well my kids have a mother that does that too!
  16. I too like the idea of buying a complete package. It certainly makes it easier to have everything you need in one spot. I'm glad you mentioned you liked the text -- another concern for me. And yes, meeting the plo's is important. Thanks for your response.
  17. I am interested in this curriculum for my up coming grade 7 students. I'm interested in hearing people's personal experience with this product. Thanks.
  18. Although I had just left the home, where a group of us had been visiting, so I was really asking who was left, which would pretty much determine the conversation. In any case, I recognize he was being a snarky teenager. I just felt it was a bit too familiar -- and disrespectful. I'm not too sure why this incident ticked me off so much but it did. I'll get over it.
  19. Same thing. All of a sudden a chunk was gone. Unfortunately I now need a crown -- my portion of which will cost $500!!
  20. Have a tiff with your best friend. Seriously I found more time but I guess I wouldn't recommend the methodology. I'm being a bit of a baby and I can't snap out of it (which is unusual for me). I called my friend's house yesterday afternoon and her 18 yr ds answered this way . . ."We're in the middle of a deep discussion." I asked who was all there. "Everyone that's important." (ha! ha! ha! in the background.) I said good-bye. No hello (they have call display so they knew who it was). No call until later that night. Now my beef isn't with not being able to speak with my friend. That often happens. My beef is that these comments came from a kid and seemly were endorsed by the parents (who usually are very on top of these things). It seemed cheeky to me and besides, how did he know that I didn't have something important to say. Anyway, I guess I'll get over it. In the mean time the day was very productive, not spending any time talking on the phone.
  21. We're in the same snow and mud situation. I keep looking at my floors (that will see vacuum in a few moments) thinking, "why should I wash them? The second they're clean, kids or dogs will track threw more sand or mud!". BTW, it's sand that's really getting to me. It seems to track through the house and there's nothing worse than grit under your feet.
  22. I wonder if it's more of a regional thing (like your town) than a Canadian thing? I'm Canadian and I don't mind sticking out (I think). Pretty much everything important that I do is not the "norm". I also come from a family that likes to try new things and definitely is not apathetic. (My parents immigrated from Europe though so maybe that has an impact.) I'll have to mull this over a bit.
