  1. Times Tales, RS games and lots of practice!
  2. Can anyway give any reviewed for Seton religion? It looks good from the sample, it's used 5 days a week? And incorporates in catechism reading I am looking for 4th grade next year. We currently doing Memoria Press Classical Studies for bible study and memorization. I love it and play to continue. What I am looking for is catechism study. We currently just reading through the catechism and doing the corresponding Angel Food readers. We are enjoying it, but would like to do some more....
  3. Can any tell me anything about this? It is used by the Angelicum Academy and it intrigues me, but I can't get a clear picture of what exactly it is?
  4. Have you looked at the Rightstart Games? You can buy the manual and just make the cards yourself. Or buy a kit with all the cards as well. My kids love the games.
  5. For my oldes we did Singapore K and I started 1st grade but switched to Rightstart. he did Rightstart through C and then we switched back to Singapore. I worked great, and I really, really, think that Rightstart B is outstanding. His mental math skill are fantastic and I think that is becasue of Rightstart. He is now in Singapore 4A and Beast Academy and doing great. We still do Rightstart games. I know they are coming out with a new version, but they are also going to continue to sell the old. Rightstart does take 100% teacher invovlement, but I think all math should in first grade. I honestly don't think you need to supplement Rightstart B. Bottom line, they are both great math programs and you can't go wrong, but doing Rightstart in the early years and then switching to Singapore worked very, very well with us.
  6. AprilMay, They are having 25% off for all their ebooks. It's so expensive printed and this sale makes it (somewhat) reasonable for an ebook. Here is a link to info on it: http://www.pandiapress.com/?page_id=82 A link to get it as an e-book http://www.pandiapress.com/?page_id=14 And the "Try Before you Buy" (sample) http://www.pandiapress.com/?page_id=20
  7. Not sure of the age of your kids, but maybe Beast Academy for math?
  8. No big losers this year. Our two (new items) winners: Beast Academy D'Ulaires (sp?) Greek Myths and Memoria Press guide
  9. Prima Latina doesn't really cover a lot of Latin grammar. We have really loved it for third grade, but It is mostly vocabulary and prayers. I does have a nice review of very basic English grammar (for example, it reviews the definition of verb and when learning some latin verbs for vocabulary you learn that most Latin verbs end in "o"). I am learning along with my children, but I believe that is just the first person ending of the verbs (which it doesn't get into and explain at this level) From my understanding the rest of the level have much, much more grammar. So, much in fact that MP doesn't think that you need a full blown grammar curriculum (they used to use R&S). They are now creating their own "lighter" grammar for students doing Latin so that students can spend more time on writing, etc...
  10. I have a an almost 9 year old and 7 year old doing Prima Latina. We love it and have been so impressed with all of the MP products. We are looking forward to doing Latin Christina next year If I remember correctly from your other posts, you are Catholic, right? Learning the prayers is one thing we love about Prima Latina. My kids are so excited now when we have one of the prayers in Latin at Mass. I think you could start with any of the levels- Prima Latina, Latin Christina or First Form. I think really just depends on how quickly you want to move. Prima Latina is very basic-- vocabulary, prayers and some very, very basic grammar. You could move pretty quickly through PL with a fifth grader, if you wanted too. I don't think she would think it is babyish at all, I just think she would be able to handle more. If you are nervous about jumping into First Form (which although an introductory class I understand to move a lot more quickly than Latin Christina) then Latin Christina may be a good start. Although I don't know if Latin Christina has the prayers that have been such a wonderful part of our Latin study this year. I am excited to getting to First Form because Lingua Angelica is built into their lesson plans as a supplement and it looks wonderful. I may just get the CD to listen to the music! MP would probably recommend Latin Christina or First Form. You may want to consider getting some advice on the Memoria Press forum, they have outstanding customer service and may be able to give you some good advice.
  11. Anybody buy this? How does it look? Tempted to grab it with the RSO sale that goes until Sunday even though I wouldn't use it for over a year Anyone know how often they have those kind of sales?
  12. this what we do. In the morning we do math, reading, writing, latin, etc... The afternoon we spend doing different subjects like art, science or history. This gives us a full afternoon to spend on the topic and really dive into it
  13. make sense, and I also use the textbook for teaching new concepts. I just use the workbook rather than the textbook for the practice problems
  14. I can see why MM would be good extra practice, but why do you thimk thw workbooks are worthless? Do you then try and line uo IP and CWP with what you are doing in the textbook? I'm curious b/c we tend to do the opposite. We tend not to use the text-book unless it is something one of the kids are stuck on
  15. I also would only need to buy the workbooks. I don't think the CWP or IP should be changing though?
  16. So, you think there chance they will make a separate Common Core Edition and keep the Standards edition? I thought I was reading that they were changing the Standards to align with the Common Core?
  17. This is very frustrating! Looks I am also going to have to stock up. I also like the more advanced scope and sequence Sigh, I was hoping they would make their CCS edition separate and leave the Standards alone.
  18. Is there anywhere to buy them individually?
  19. Anyone using and can share some thoughts for AAR pre/level1? What age are you using it for?
  20. I don't have a chart, but we did use the two together for our main phonics (along w/readers). I didn't try to match them up and it worked great
  21. We are Catholic, and I have heard of Behold and See, but for some reason never really looked at it. Thanks for the suggestion, I will!
  22. Here are two old threads on the topic, I am hoping they will do free shipping this spring/summer http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/443403-discount-code-for-memoria-press/page__hl__+memoria%20+press%20+free%20+shipping#entry4521794'>http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/443403-discount-code-for-memoria-press/page__hl__+memoria%20+press%20+free%20+shipping#entry4521794 http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/443403-discount-code-for-memoria-press/page__hl__+memoria%20+press%20+free%20+shipping#entry4521794 If you are going to buy a package or just part of a package it is worth ordering from them. If you are going to buy a partial package (ie. swap something out, not use something) it is worth calling them to talk to them about what you need. Many times they will still give you a deep discount over buying things individually
